I wish there were a way to take off the red respray the the PO deemed necessary to apply. He must have taken it to one cheap shop, because every day it seems that a little more of the red just flakes off, revealing the beautiful root beer brown beneath. It's almost as if the painters painted over the brown without removing the wax, that's how nice the original color is underneath. At this point the paint is only coming off around the mirrors, and the inner door jamb area, but the brown areas are growing.

Looking for some ideas on some blacked-out door key locks for my car. I am painting all of my trim and door handles black b ut not sure to do about the door locks. Did they have black door locks on early Z's ? I am contemplating powder coating the locks but don't know if that is a good solution. I don't believe paint will hold up to key scratches.

Are sandblasting cabinets with the built in handpiece and hoses any good? I think the work by the siphon of media as the air passes through the hand piece. Harbor Frieght is having a sale on both a table top and floor standing unit. I have a lot of parts that I would like to clean and repaint. I have a nice air compressor that should give me plenty of power. Carl

I am continuing my floor pan replacement project. I have cut out the old floor pans. As you can see, the rust was really quite bad. After cutting out the old floor pans I started trying to figure out how to get the pans to fit. I think I am in for quite a job. Looking forward, the front section is also quite bad. I bought some sheet steel from a local supply company to cut out the patch panels for the other portions. Any thoughts comments or guidance is welcome.

I had a guy tell me that Klasse car wax was the stuff to use for my Z to give it that"lasting" shine like all the wax companies claim. Has anyone in the forum used Klasse before. I am very particular about the wax that I use. I also heard that Zymol was a good one as well.

Can any one recommend a body shop in Ma or RI? I am looking to have my 240z repainted this summer and would prefer a shop that has experience with Z's. Thanks, Greg

Hi all. I have some new picts of the girl. Here they are. Airdam, tail light panels. She's comming very nice. The car was sprayed with some kind of protection, that's the reason that may look's like kind of wet. It can be removed just with water.

i have a 73, and i took my rear bumper to be chromed. well after blasting the inside, and stipping, there isnt much left of the center section. so my question is, will a 70-72 center section work with my 73 end pieces that i already have chromed? im not using any of the rubber strips or the "bumperettes" (the u-shaped pieces). thanks todd

Does anybody know of any Zcar body shops around the Los Angeles area? I have been trying to find one to replace the back end of my 280zx and to primer and possibly paint.

She looks great. Today I saw her for the first time since last week. This is what I saw. The precision weather strip fits very very nice. The tail light panels are going to be painted the same color of the grille. The sound deadener is comming soon. I have to go to the shop to put it, but Im busy working. I hope can have some free time to do this operation before the dash rest in place.
