Hi All, Just finished painting and re-assembling my 1978 Black Pearl 280Z. It doesn't really qualify as a Black Pearl anymore because I used 2005 Nissan Altima, (Super Black) for my paint. But the car still has the original paint sticker with the 638 number. The car was an Arizona desert car which means rust was very minimal and I'm aware of all the places it can be a problem. I went through the entire vehicle but the body/painting work took 75% of the time involved which is why I'm posting it in this section. I've been a member for a little over a year now and have read hundreds and hundreds of posts while completing this task. The entire suspension is new with t…

Help! I have purchased a pressurized sandblaster from harbor freight and I cant get it to work consistently. I also have been using black beauty media (fine) and it was working great but now all I get is air from the tip. My thought was some sort of clog but when I take it apart, the media poors from the bottom. I am not sure where the hang up is. Does anyone have any advice. I have also tried yelling at it and kicking it but no luck. Carl ( I am trying to clean up my series one gas tank that has 30 plus years of crud adhered to it.)

Does anyone have an opinion on the best rust stopper out there? Seems POR15 has a good reputation, but I recently received a new Eastwood catalog and their stuff looks pretty good to. Thought I would see if anyones had success or experience with either. Thanks. Bob

I've looked through several of the posts and even did a search for rust above and below around the windshield. Either I'm blind, stupid or own the only 2 ZX's in the USA with rust in these areas. The 80 only has one spot on the panel that the windshield wipers go through, and the 83 is much worse with rust there and right above the windshield. It (the 83) appears that it was patched with fiberglass or bondo (haven't removed the paint yet) and was wondering if anybody on here has fixed such a problem. Is there a skin available for this area or do you have to have one fab'd? I would appreciate any help or advice anybody could give. A friend of mine put it on a lift a…

I know this is a paint/body section but , I think it fits here. The window channel that fits in chrome trim surrounding the door glass. A good source for this stuff in good old J.C Whitney I used it some time ago and I recommend it. The part number is 18SB4877X It comes in a 8' length and you need two. $9.00 each . Another thing the fuzzy stuff that contacts the glass , inner belt weatherstrip , 19SB3480P It comes in a 6' strip and one will do both doors. $15.00 I attached it to the door panel with pop rivets , use a knife to remove some of the fuzzy material to make room for the pop rivet , this way it is way below the level of the fuzz and wont touch the gla…

I'm about to send my '71 in; after 13 yrs.; for a refresh paint job and to fix some minor dings and scratches. I am curious about a hole, about 3/8 diam., in the middle of the rear valence, below the bumper. It almost looks like it could be for wires for a trailer hook-up, but there is no evidence that a hitch was ever on the car. Did they come from the factory like this, or did the PO drill it for something? If it doesn't belong, I'd just as soon have it filled in.

Hi, I found a guy that was willing to sell me a hood / fenders and underskirt for pretty cheap as seen in the images below... Obviously, they need to be painted, but have no rust and are in like new shape. My question is that the hood does not have vents like my original hood show below; can I custom add vents to this hood or should i just leave as is? A few other questions; I really like this bumper and side body kit below... I guess my bumpers would need to come off, do i need any other parts to mount the body kit.. I would really like to get my car looking like the dark grey one above... Any idea what rims and paint color that is? Thanks for any feedback.…
