Hey Z people, Well its been over 3 years comming. I finally painted my 240Z. I started the paint job yesterday, 6 hours just to get it preped, taped and into the booth. Then I sprayed on a coat of primer sealer, that was a total disaster. It went on to dry, and had orange peal from hell. I lightly sanded the primer coat and shot the color... IT LOOKED LIKE HELL! That was all I could take for one day. I decided to come in this morning and start all over again. I got to the school this morning at 8 am and started sanding. I wet sanded all of the orange peal and dry primer bumps off the base coat, that took me 4 hours. Once I had the Z all preped and ready to…

So Im up here in Canada and winter is coming fast. I bought a new house that were moving into January 30th, right in the dead middle of winter (it has a 2 car garage...yaaa!). Since I had to go about buying the new house and selling this one, it ate up alot of my Z-time this summer. I HAD planned on getting all the paint off her (she's currently just a rolling shell) and getting her into a shop to get her prepped and painted before winter. BUT.. Currently the enging bay is all cleaned out and about 60% coated with POR-15. I 'll have to read if I can finish it in cold weather, or I'll have to heat the garage all morning then finish it. The rest of the body is MOSTLY paint…

I hesitated before posting this in an old thread or whether to start a new thread altogether as I am unclear on this point – if starting a new thread is not the go then perhaps it can be deleted and the post transferred to this thread http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20705&highlight=tow+hooks. I was looking at a friend’s 260Z 2 seater the other day which has been done up for a little club sport driving. There was a tow sticker indicating the tie down hook as being a tow hook for the vehicle. He was a little taken aback when I advised my recollection that the tie down hook was not a tow hook. This stuck in my mind and I went looking for verifica…

I just spent 3 or 4 hours packing around with my AC and in a rather numb moment I removed the cowling to see if there was a back entrance (doesn't exist). It was a revealing sight to see though - I now know why these cars are rust prone - no paint!!! Can you believe it, a very light spray of primer, but no paint anywhere throught this area. It's a drain for ---- sake. I recommend that if you haven't opened it up that you should take the time to do so. I have cleaned it out with a brush - it appears to be just surface rust, but it's pretty well the only rust on the car (other than battery tray) - from southern California. Tomorrow it gets the rust treatment - disa…

Well I am restoring my 71z and wanted to paint it red orange, code is 110. But the rims I’m getting is CCW, in grey color with polish lip. So I think it wont match the paint. I’m thinking of a dark grey, or gunmetal color. But don’t know which one to go with I want to go with the 180sx grey color but cant find the color code for that car. Do anybody know and good color out there that match my description…. Or do you know what color is this z and paint code

My son and I are trying to find fender flares for our 240z. We found the following: 1. Metal ones at Black Dragon 2. Fiberglass at Motosport Autos 3. Carbon Fiber (ZG) Don't really like the look of the screws on the ZG. We want to be able to put wider tires on it to run it on the local tracks. Do the MSA flares last? Do they crack over time? Is it common for them to plain break? We would like to do this once. Hopefully this isn't a duplicate thread. We searched for hours. Thanks for the help.
