The paint on my car is kinda weird. The hood is nice and shiny/smooth, but the fenders feel rough. I tried to rub them out with #1 rubbing compound ( by hand) 2 or 3 times so far and it still feels rough. I lose major points at shows because of that. The rest of the car is nice (smooth/shiney), except for a few odd scratches. I also have access to a buffer. Ideas? I'd just like to touch things up some. I'm not looking for $20,000 show-car quallity.

I have a 510 project, I'm hoping that by the end of the summer i can have it painted and running. It is basically a shell right now. Anyway the previous owner spayed the engine bay with rattle-can primer and didn't prep it before. The primer comes off easily in many areas. I figure i should paint the engine bay while i have the chance but I need to remove this primer. I was thinking of bringing it to a sandblasting place but then thought that the cost would probably be similar to that of a cheap sandblaster and material. How well do these cheap (sub $100) work? Is it worth the money? Thanks.

So--it finally happened. Someone sideswiped my Z in a parking lot and drove off without a word, note, or anything. Nice thing to come out from my break at work to find. My question is--are any of you local to the Seattle area and have a body shop that you would recommend? The jerk managed to destroy the rear side markerlight, and I'd like to find a shop that will actually look for the right piece rather than telling me that there's no way they can find a 34 year old markerlight. Not to mention that the dent will need to be smoothed out by someone who knows what it's supposed to look like. Thanks in advance for any leads you can give me. Chris

I live in New Mexico and cannot seem to find a decent body/paint shop.I would like to avoid bondo and use body solder but the only one I found quoted me 15-20 THOUSAND! with me stripping the car. It is a '71 with very little to do on it body wise. My question is does anyone know of a good shop either in New Mexico or Arizona? I would even be willing to trailer it to Texas. Any help is greatly appreciated. Best, H Houghton

Hey anyone on here that has a front 240z '73 bumper that is in good condition please contact me soon. If it has the bumper bars that is great but they are not necessary. Thanks, samzhot240

I was wondering if anyone tried putting t-tops on a 280zx that doesn't have them origionally. I noticed on my 1979 280zx that the openings are stamped into the roof under the headliner. Would it be better to cut the holes out, or cut the whole roof off and put the whole t-top roof on? I have a parts car with all the interior parts I would need. Any info would be appreciated. THANKS

Has anyone else gotten a full-face dash cover from MSA that doesn't fit? I finally rec'd mine this past Friday after waiting for weeks while it was back-ordered, and it's not even close to fitting correctly! I was trying to test-fit it, and removed my steering wheel and hazard pull knob (which I think I've broken now ) along with the defroster panel. I put the center of the cap in place, it fits over the 3 small guages in the middle, around the heater panel OK, barely over the tach, almost fits over the speedo, but is off about 1/4" for the left air vent, and then I look over to the right and the cutout for the glove box button is off, it doesn't fit right around the gl…

I called my local Nissan dealer, and they priced me a hood for $298. Seemed like a good price (anybody disagree?) They asked the production date, whether it was b4 or after Aug. 73. Mine is May of 73. They said that one was no longer available. What, if any, is the difference in the two hoods? Thanks in advance.

I have actually had these parts for a couple of weeks, but have been so buried that I didn't get around to celebrating their arrival. I spent all last summer trying to repair my old rusted out fenders with fiberglass and bondo to no avail. Now that I know the sheet metal is available from the dealer, I wonder why I bothered... I have checked inside, but keep wrapping them back up because I am terrified of scratching them BEFORE I install them. (what happens when I install them I know will be scary...) Check out the cool way that "Do not drop" got translated!
