On my '78 280Z... I have this strange dripping inside my car on both sides under where the drain tube/elbow is for the air cowling. On the left it drips on my left foot while driving in the rain, and I assume the same on the right. So when there is a decent rain, the carpet is wet. I haven't had time to get the cover off and look in there to check the tubes and see if they're blocked, but I plan on it after the car goes into storage. (wish I had a mini video!) These tubes might be cracked, and/or blocked, so they fill up with water and/or drip into the car. Can somebody tell me if you can get at those drains from the outside of the car? I'll check them & clean a…

hi, I've kinda been lurking for a while, since I've been waiting for a good 240z to come along sooner or later to put in my garage and restore. Between HLS-30H''s spectactuar picture gallery and a really nice green 240z I saw on ebay, I've kinda developed an eye to do something retro, something with JDM touches. from what Iv'e read here, JDM parts seem to be hard to come by, like the fender mirrors, accurate G-noses, and the chrome rimmed headlight covers. as luck would have it, I know a guy who's stationed in Nippon. He's already looked in the scrapyards, but they keep a rolling stock, so nothing as old as a 240z can be found, which is pretty sad. Is there a known source…

hi all, What is the OEM color of the grrill on the hood of the 280Z 1977? I have it painted in black, but many old z Pictures have the same color as the body, I think that same color look nicer than black.. any comments? thanks.

Greetings...my car is finally at the paint shop and now the real work is beginning...as the old paint layers are being stripped away the areas needing repair are being revealed...I have an section at the bottom of the hatch window that has rusted the lip underneath the rubber seal there. My paint/body guy says he can cut/shape and weld in a new section of metal there or replace the entire hatch itself...not sure yet what the cost differential would be but I'd have to pay for the part (probably from a parts Z)...anyone have to fix this area on their ride? What did you do? As always, thanks for any info... :beard:

I see a lot of Z's with headlight covers, they kind of fill in the "empty" space around the headlight bucket. They are the clear ones, i guess lexan or plastic. WHERE CAN I FIND THEM? I can't find them anywhere. also how much do they run?

well i just went out and bought a new 40-100 amp arc welder to learn how to weld ( i didnt have the $$$ for a mig , but what are you gunna do) Anyways i was hoping to use this welder for repairs on my Z. I was screwing around today with some rusty old exhaust pipes and some random bolts to see if i could weld at all but i seem to be havin trouble. It says to "strike" the arc but nothings striking. I can slide the stick across and make a million little beads but it wont stay "struck" so i can hold it the proper distance away from the object being welded. Any tips? i thought i set the amperage right, im using 3/32" welding rods with 90 amps of power. Maybe itl just take…

Hi, all. I want to repaint, as true as possible, the light blue color of the air cleaner in the 280. Has anyone been able to replicate that color, or have a color code? Many thanks in advance.

Is this still part of the quarter panel? Is it a common rust spot, or did I just get really unlucky? If it is common or if anyone has repaired this, you guys use bondo or weld?

I know this is a dumb question, some people probably say weatherstripping is a fairly self explanatory process. But I just want to make sure I'm doing things right. Does anyone know or have any tutorials on replacing each/most of the weatherstripping on a 240Z?
