I bought a 72 240z sight unseen (my brother e-mailed me some pictures) a couple of years ago from 500 miles away, I brought it home on a flatbed. The price was right, 600 bucks. I told him that if it looked ok, and the rails, & floorboards were good I wanted it. He told me it had an uncracked dash (which has since cracked) so I bought it. Now im not so sure. From a previous life I knew it would need some work, quarter panels (which I have purchased) fenders (I have one, need another). Interior etc... its a project, needless to say. It is slowly coming along (way slower than the first one I bought.) my stalling point is a hole underneath the drivers side fender (b…

i'm in the process of repainting my 73z . it seems to have about 5 layers of paint and minor rust. should i strip paint down to the metal. if so whats the best way to do that. i've used power sanders and a few other things to sort of grind the paint off but it takes a while. i'm not trying to build a show car but want it to look good. thanks

The first (not really) in a series of valiant efforts to keep costs down in auto maintenance. The Cheap B@stard Presents: The window squeege One of the most irritating things about an old car is often the hardened, brittle rubber weather-strip. This stuff is absolutely neccessary if you ever drive in the rain and don't like colonies of insects making a home in your beloved old wreck. These pieces are almost always available from the OEM, but at a serious premium. If you add up all of the parts they sell for your car, a 10k 'disposable car' ends up costing six figures or so. Then there's the aftermarket suppliers who sell those foam strips and look alike rubber. The foam i…

Hey I just found that my headlight scoops on my 71 were bonded somewhat to the fenders instead of being bolted. These are fiberglass I see from the breaks at the bolt points. Are all of the headlight scoops or sugar scoops the same for all z cars or were just the series ones fiberglass? Was curious now that i have to buy a set. Thanks

does anyone have any ideas of how to fix the battery tray rust through? mine is completely rusted through the wheel well. and i need to repair it, inexpensively mind you! im not one for OEM looks, so it can be ugly, it just has to be functional ( in other words i wanna fix it and still have the battery tray there) the battery tray itself is pretty rusted too...

Replacing floor pans in your 240Z Materials: -Slab of beer -Angle grinder with cut off wheel -Angle grinder with flap disc (coarse) -A couple of pairs of pliers/vice grips -Hammer & dolly -Screwdriver Hello, just posting a few pictures/steps for people who are considering replacing their floorpans in the Z car. In mine the under floor rails were a bit rusty so they are being done at the same time. First of all start to cut out the bulk of the floor pan just leaving the flanges that are spotwelded to the body of the car. More to come

I have been wanting some really nice wheels for a long time, but they are just too expensive! I would like to know around how much money it will be to powdercoat the 15" wheels I have already. Nobody around my town does this sort of thing, that is when I turn to my trusted friends here. Thanks. http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=16781&cat=500&page=1
