Saw a 74 240z the other day. I took a photo of the VIN plate so I'll post it when I can. Anyone else seen this? It also had 240z interior door trims but pull handles on both doors... wierd. Must be one of the last 240's ever..

Here's a question to all... What makes an Nissan/Datsun OEM part, an OEM part aside from being sold by an authorized Nissan dealer?? Reason I ask is that I called Courtesy Nissan to order a set for the door's, the parts guy came back with a price of $125.00 for one side, and $115.00 for the other, When I confirmed with the parts guy that this was for a 71 Z, he said that these seals would work on all Z's from 70 -78. After reading all of the articles on the board about after market seals being different in thickness due to a change in door gap(?) It makes me wonder if these are original factory spec seals, Thus my question if Nissan is farming the manufacturing of the se…

I have 2 240's and one 260. Each one has her unique problems. 2ed #1 is pretty straight but is well-rusted underneath (I bought it for $150 for the carbs and the windshield, but she's been good for many other parts). Zed #2 has only minor rust and is very straight from the front compression rod mounts back, but she has had damage to her nose. I'll spare you the details, but she's crooked. A frame shop has obviously worked on her but couldn't get her perfect. I think she's close enough that she's driveable, but it's possible she will be tough to align and set up properly. With the exception of her warped front, Zed #2 is clearly the best of the two. This is not a restorat…

My Z was Ziebarted when I bought it. Don't know how old it is or who would even have done it. (Dealer at sale or Mom and Pop garage later on) I've heard the Ziebart is not as good at protecting the body from rust as you might be led to believe. Any experience/ideas on what to look/look out for? Thanks in advance.

I mastered the lock assemblies and the new locks work great. (I even had a new lock built for the hatch) I am now ready to start putting in the glass. What is the process? (1 - Put the stainless window channel on 2) - Put the forward glass channel on. 3) - ????? I do not know what goes on next, and next and next???????? I can figure this out just like I did with the lock mechanisms. But, it would be nice to have someone give me the order of putting everything together. How about someone who has done this a few times? :surprised

I am almost ready to install Zedfindings' floors in my 72z and want to know if I should treat the new floors and exhisting bare metal in the car before mig welding them? I also want to treat the inside of the support panels and the seat supports. I could tape off where I plan to weld but I wonder if this is necessary. Bob M

I have some scratch remover creme in a tube, but I don't think it really works, or I'm not using it right. Is anybody using or know of any magical scratch remover creme or liquid that actually works? thx

I read about this MIG wire on another board and thought I'd try it as my abilities on sheet metal with .024 wire left something to be desired on my less than great days This wire is made by Perfect Circle and is called Twenty Gauge, that's it's name not the wire gage, it is a .030 wire, and a cored wire but you have to use it with gas (75/25 Argon CO2). It makes welding sheet metal down to .015 thick a dream compaired to anything else that I have used. It is priced about the same as any other flux cored wire, $10-12 for 2 Lbs roll. Unlike flux core wires this has no residue and needs no cleanup. The core is made up of ground up metal or something like that, all I know …

i've been tossing around a few ideas on what colo(u)r to paint my car. originally, i was going to go with the original yellow with the black "240z" stripe on the side. then, as i got a bit more adventurous, i decided to toss around a few ideas. though my fave colour is yellow, i've always liked the way green looks on cars. as a matter of fact, all of the non-z cars i have owned have been green! anyway, here is my result: it's going to be a little bit darker of green, probably BRG, but with a gold pearl. i'm also debating if the BRE stripes should be vinyl (to remove them if i get sick of them) or painted under the clear coat (so it looks nice). anyway, i'm ready for in…

I am seriously having a hard time deciding what color to paint my car, I've narrowed it down to either light or dark metallic silverish, black, or a darker blue. I see alot of blue and silverish z's but not many black ones, it just dosent seem to be a popular color so i think i'm goin ta go with either the blue or silver. i'm on a budget (who isnt?) so i dont want anything to complicated but if anyone has some ideas please share.
