Clicky thats her! shes painted with PPG Le mans sunset... $170 a quart, and my dad and i did all that! no orange peel or anything, its perfect...i forgot to sand the top of the rad. support, so we are redoing that however.... also, we are getting someone else to paint the body of the car. that was fun, but at the same time, i was high the whole time (no respirator, just a dust mask in the garage closed with fans and filters) and i dont want to screw the body up...im so excited! for some reason, this site wont let me upload pics, so i will do that later!

I have noticed that it looks like some people have replaced the 260 front bumper with the 240 one. I was wondering what additional changes would have to be made ( like taking off the shock absorbers and the such). And also what additional parts I would have to buy if I was going to do this. Thanks for the help.

My '78 has a rust hole beneath the battery tray. Are there replacement trays? How do you get it out to make the repairs beneath it? Is cutting out the bad piece and replacing the metal the best fix?

Which years came with rubber on the sides of the rear bumper? I've noticed this is not a very popular piece. I'm talking about the piece on the front edge between the body and the bumper. bumperrub.bmp

Just wanted to get some opinions.... The front driver's side seat bracket, the piece that the seat bolts to, and its welded to the chassis, is rusty and has been compromised. I was wondering if anyone knew if someone made replacements for the bracket, and/or if anyone has just welded a piece of sheet metal over it to reinforce it, or ??? I have access to a buddy who can weld for me, but I don't have access to him removing a bracket off of a donar car. Thanks for any replies in advance!

Looked at three samples of the Nissan 611 paint code all the same formulas but in 3 different paint brands Dupont, Diamont (BASF) & Spies. The Diamont was far and away the best. That's what I went with. :paranoid:

So i am gonna make my first attempt at painting and have the first of many questions. I have the front fenders, hood, bumper, etc... all off the car right now, should i leave these off and paint them all seperately or should i put them all back on the car before i paint?

I’m thinking of getting a rear skirt for my 1973 240Z, but I haven’t been able to find a good picture of one to see how it looks. I’m specifically looking at getting the classic rear skirt from Motorsport. The picture in the catalog isn’t very good. Is anyone using this skirt and has a picture that you can share? I would be interested in other rear skirts as well. I’m not interested in the combined rear bumper and skirt as I’m using a European chrome rear bumper.

i was just wondering the difference on the bumpers on the 75 280 and the 78 280. Is it possible that the bumpers on a 280 be swaped with an orginal 240 rear bumper? I dont mind the 5 mile bumpers on the front of a 280 but i am not fond of them on the rear. thanks dan Ps: what are some things to look for when buying a z, more specifically a fuel injected 280?

I know it's probably not a very intelligent question, but... is there a way to remove an after-market top coat of paint without removing the original bottom coat? The PO of my '74 260Z painted over the original Persimmon with a "home job" red. I've been able to peel off the red paint from around the windows, and the paint underneath looks pretty good & maybe not even sanded before painting. The "new" paint job has the dreaded orange-peel appearance & it's going to have to come off anyway. Is there any way to remove this upper coat? It's driving me nuts... aside from the fact I like Persimmon, I have red body panels on the outside, and Persimmon under the hood,…
