   Painted undercoating?

   Hey all: First time poster, so please go easy on me... Just bought what I think is a restorable '72 240z, and I need some opinions. The car is originally Lime Yellow (112 color code), but overpainted red by someone in the past (now faded.) While inspecting the undercarriage for rust, I noticed the undercoating had been painted the original yellow! I owned a '73 240z about 16 years ago, and I don't remember this characteristic. Is this original or part of a prior repaint? If it is original, should I consider stripping the undercoating to upgrade it? It lacks sig rust (so far) in wheel wells, frame rails and floor pans, but does suffer from it around batt ledge, door …

   Just curious. Were the hatch vent grills on early 240Z's always made of plastic or were they ever cast from alloy like the badges ? I've never seen metal vent grills advertised or mentioned ?

   240Z Chrome Bumpers

   I have really good condition chrome front and rear bumpers for a 240Z. The front is missing the rubber strips and the two vertical things with the rubber on them. The rear has everything but it does have minor scratches all over. These are perfect for being re-chromed. I am trying to get the fiberglass ones so that I can "flush mount" them. If anyone has either fender flares or these fiberglass bumpers, I am willing to trade or just take cash for them. Thanks a lot and pics can be made available upon request. I am also looking for some of the "bolt on" fender flares, I know that I can get them from motorsport auto, but if there is anyone that doesn't live too far from Geo…

   This is what you get if you leave your Zed in the rain for years. Water dribbles enters via a perished door rubber, then travels along the underneath of the door sill plate, happily sitting in its own juice eating away at your thin sheet metal. Anyone for swiss cheese :tapemouth :surprised :hurt: I now feel kinda lucky to have driven it so hard without it falling apart whilst in it. By the way, I've killed the rust in the photo and taken off the paint to see the worst of it. Amazingly, the rest of the car isn't as bad as this....other side is not a bad but will require the same treatment. New rocker steel to go in. Anyone else have a Zed like this?????

   Have any of you guys had the problem where your hood wont fully close? First of all, i need to hold the little catch thing open so it will lock in place, and then it wont go any further. I cant push it down any farther, so the hood is open about 1" all the time. I have tryed holding the release and shutting it, but it wont work. Do you guys have any solutions?

    Attaching hood emblem

    The hood emblem on my 73 came loose and I want to reattach it, but I can't find an source for the "clips" to hold it in. And while I'm sure double-sided tape will hold, I know I'll regret it later How have others done this?
