Anyone know for a fact if this really was an available stock color on the 280Z's? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6187&item=2472321990 the zhome.com paint code list doesn't list orange as an available color for the 260-280Z's. Now I'm wondering what else is missing from the list. Her's the zhome list. "260Z / 280Z Colors 215 White (from 8/75 on) 214 Dark Brown (from 8/73 - 7/76) 240 Green Metallic (from 8/75 on) 301 Brown Metallic (from 8/73) 302 Leaf Green Metallic (from 8/73) 303 Green Metallic (8/73 - 7/75) 304 Gold Metallic (8/73 - 7/75) 305 Light Blue Metallic (from 8/73) 306 Silver Metallic (from 8/73) 307 Blue Metal…

I replaced the damaged tail light fascia panels on my 260Z with stuff I picked up at a junkyard. I want to paint them the gray that the original panels were, but am unsure of how to go about painting plastic, and where I could find the correct color paint. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

As you can see in this pic my car has this black strip that runs down each side to help prevent door dings. I want to remove it since it's starting to come off already any how but do not know how it's attached nor what it will look like once removed. Is this stuff just stuck on with glue or double side 3M 'tape'? Any tips or advice would be great. Hmmmmm.....ok I can not seem to link to a pic in My Gallery so here's the link to the pic I was trying to show: http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=5609&size=big&password=&sort=7&thecat=500

Wondering if anyone had a diagram of the doors on the 240z with dimentions? or would this be on the Microfiche cd if i purchased it? Im looking to shave the door handles and was trying to figure out a way to make the door just pop out a little and have a handle and a electronic numberpad to unlock and open the door. need dimentions to see what I would be able to stuff in there to make it work. thanks for the help.

what does one "officially" call the trim bar that was on the top of the front and rear bumpers of the early Z? Oh, yea, I have an AWESOME rear bar sample. If it was much better it would have to be perfect. One small dent, great chrome... it does have broken bolts in the center mounting holes, but anyone can fix that... yes, you will probably see it on the For Sale board, like a lot of my other goodies:stupid: Remember, tomorrow is Friday, watch out for those kiddos coming and going to school!!! Drive carefully.

Hey Folks, I have to remove the old faded decals off the air cleaner cover without damaging the paint. Any suggestions? I have some 3M Woodgrain and Stripe Remover but it says it will damage a laquer finish. Thanks in advance. Chris

Any of you have experience with brazing body work? I just got some rust repair done and I noticed lots of brass brazing to fill in holes I assume. None of it is on the outside - just around the battery tray, firewall and lower door sills. Will POR-15 stick to this stuff, and does it need to prepped a special way? Does it offer any protection against rust of the underlying metal? I'm wondering if I got ripped on this repair work. Thanks, Michael

Ok, Please give me input ... remember this is just an Idea... :beard: the areas that will rust the most(?) are the inside of the box sections in the car. (ok, not true, but this is the thought that got me thinking)... Why don't you cut it open, weld in a few supports and weld it all shut except a small hole where you weld in a threaded nut(?) or something....then paint the inside with a small spray tool (not thought through very well, but im trying!) then put a valve in the threaded area (small valve, for cosmetics) and evacuate the area of air (the reason for the supports is becuase of outside airpressure) to hopefully prevent oxidation....at least if it does rust thr…

Hi all, Embolden by the results I got on the BRE spoiler I did last week, I'm considering tackling some other areas on my car. Most of the issues are paint chips, but I do have some "checkering" on the driver door and the hatch while presentable, could stand a smoother layer of paint. I don't really want to use a "real" paint gun and compressor as I don't have the room in the garage for the equipment nor the ability to set up a "paint booth". So I'm wondering if one can get good results with an airbrush and small compressor for chip repair, small touch-up (where feathering would be required.), and small body panel painting. What I'm looking for is better flow cont…

Ok, I'm Working on my master plan. So when they dip your car I hear that it removes everything including the areas you can't get to again.... I also heard that after its dipped they apply zinc phosphate to stop rust before you paint... Guess I was wondering how long you can leave it Unpainted with the zinc phosphate applied? (assuming that its covering metal that you can't get in to paint) OR Is there a method similar to Iodizing (putting color between the molecules of metal...Probably used the wrong word) ANYWAY, is there a method like dipping(or iodizing) that keeps the rust from forming (once again because after dipping I'm told there are areas you can't get to aga…
