ok.... here goes, i had a 280Z 2+2 back in the day, and have always wanted another one (after i totaled it) and so i am about to get a Z,,,,240 260 280, haven't decided yet. after i get it i will want to paint it the color of my old one, which is this weird 70's metallic green color. i have never seen another one this color but after much looking online i found one that you can see at http://ecahost.com/280z/zpics.html it's about ten pictures down next to a bronze one. so is there some way get that exact same color or would i just have to find one that has it already.... any input appreciated. veiovis

O.K. the Z (1977) finally arrived last night. This morning I took off the fenders to clean out behind them and the cowl. Very happy with how the drainage worked and only slight surface rust. I think the rockers are shot , in the front where they curve up they are rusted through and along the bottom there is rust. I can' t tell where the front seam is between the rocker and the door rail (A pillar?) is at the front? Does anyone think it is best to replace or cut and patch, and if so where is that seam?? Now the doors, bubbling at the bottom corners with rust on the inside bottom. I'm thinking cut and patch instead of skins ( the doors come off tomorrow). There are some …

I just bought a 72 with holes rusted through the floor. I plan on having the floor pans and frame rails replaced. I would appreciate input from anyone who has experience having this done. If anyone had it done in southern California, I would welcome a recommendation for a body shop or welder.

I'm in the early stages of my 76 280 restore, rebuild, improve project. It is now stripped down to a shell, and I'm talking to potential body shops. My question is this; Should I have the car acid dipped, media blasted or use some other? method to get it down to bare metal? The car will be used as a Sunday driver and for the occasional track day, solo event. It was originally bondeco rustproofed when new, and this has worked well to preserve the car but the rustproofing is still sticky inside rockers quarter panels etc. If I have it media blasted, my concern is the media sticking to this stuff, holding moisture and having the car rust out. If I have it dipped,(acid?), I r…

hey, Just wanted to let everybody know how much I like this site. This car was given to me by a family friend 2 weeks ago that decided he had too many sports cars and wanted to pass it on. I am planning on painting my 72 240 in a couple of months when it warms up and had some questions. 1. Through all the research I have done I have not found if I should use a certain type grit sandpaper in between applying additional coats of paint. Everything I have read mentioned wet sanding before applying the clear coat. 2. I am going to get some practice on other projects before I shoot the car, but I have heard that the color I want to paint my z is very hard to paint. I want to pa…

Hey Ya'll, I'm new to the Z world with a 73 240. Pretty fair shape. Somthing that I've always wanted. I have some new tail light assemblies to put in and was wondering just how that was done. Am I right in assuming that the rivets across the top of the tail need to be drilled out? Then what? Are the light surrounds secured at the bottom somehow as well? This site is great! My wife has fallen asleep on the couch waiting for me to get off the computer! alan
