Finally stuck my 280 hood on the '73 and it latches, but the passenger side (that's the right) corner near the cowl is an inch above the fender and cowl when the hood is latched. The 240 hood that came off lined up perfectly, and the donor car (another 240) the vented hood came off--everything lined up great there too. Everything LOOKS straight and the car has never been in any wrecks. The hinge bolts are basically in the middle of their range. The front corners at the headlight buckets lines up great. Not perfect, but good enough. I don't see enough adjustment in the hinges to clear this problem up, and RAISING the front LEFT corner to drop the rear right would cau…

I am in the process of painting a 1971 240Z. I was wanting to put a "Z" just in front of the door and have flames coming off of the "Z" extending to the rear wheel. This was going to be done with green base and green with pearl flames so they will not be visible unless the light hits them just right. The painter and I were also tossing ideas back and forth about incorporating a "Z" letter on the hood paint. Does anyone know where I can see some pics. of old Z's with flames painted on them or with "Z's" incorporated in the paint job? Any other suggestions or ideas for paint job are welcomed. Thank you. Benjamin

I'm looking to build a replica of the famous "Devil Z", from the Japanese manga Wangan Midnight. Here's a scan from the manga: I've noticed that stony's car looks almost exactly like it, save for the color. So does anyone know where I can find some body parts that look like the ones in the manga? I'd really appreciate any help. Thanks!

There was a kink/ripple in the left hand chassis rail that the panel shop missed when they were doing all the other work on my zed. Took it back so they could fix it, and all they did was beat the kink straight without doing anything to reinforce the area. So I was already a bit pissed off with that, when I discovered how they did it! They cut a 3.5cm hole in the side of the rail in the wheel arch, beaten out the kink from there, then just shoved a rubber plug in it. Not happy. I went to see the local transport authority about it and they said that when assessing such a thing they'd first look to the manafacturers guidelines for such repair/modification. Does anyo…

Starting floor pan repair (pretty good sized areas) and frame rail repair directly under possibly this holiday weekend. Should the car be blocked up in the middle or something while the material is removed and welded back in? Could the car 'sag' in the middle while this area is out? Flip side: When the new material is going back in, would it be possible to jack the car up in the middle and build a bit of 'pre-load' arch into the frame? Like truck trailers and laminated beams. Ignorant, inquiring minds want to know! steve77

Hello all, just purchased a '71 240Z in good shape save for one thing. This: Another view: This spot is located in the vicinity of the red circle: Can anyone provide some insight into the seriousness of this encounter with a foreign object? It does not look like the rust has spread too far, but my opinion is definitely not an experienced one. Thanks again for your help. Ryan
