If a person were installin fenders with flares or box flares or an IMSA kit or whatever.....What can safely be removed from the existing sheetmetal? I know the front is a simple unbolt/replace situation, but what about the rear? I don't want to just 'go over' the existing metal fender. To truly lighten, some of the existing material must have to come off... But what can be removed safely without damaging the structural integrity of the body system? I can't imagine the new fibreglas fender (blended in) will provide anywhere near the rigidity of the original. Can somebody clue me in? steve77

Please take a look at the pics in my gallery 240 Z flares I need to cut the bottom 6" of the flares as they will interfere with 16x8 wheels. What do I use to cut the fiberglass cleanly? Also, do I need to seal the cut edge after sanding it down, before paint? Any help is appreciated as always. uberhahn

I just finished my 74' 260 and a couple of freinds have told me it would look much better if i leave it badgless. I have decided to leave the hatch clean. As for the rest, i figured on putting the 240 DATSUN badge on the side fenders and the original bonnet/hood badge. Opinions???

Hello everyone. I am new to this forum so I thought I would introduce myself and ask a question. I have a `73 240z that I am building. It allready has a `79 280z motor and tranny in it. It runs great but is pretty cosmetically challenged. I would like to put some fender flares on it that are molded into the body but can't seem to find any. Here is a website with a 240 that I am trying to model mine after. http://darius240z.com Look at the pictures of the 240. The flares go all the way up and get glassed in. Is there a company that makes these or are they pretty much a custom job? Thanks! Jon

My spare tire well has some rust in it, no wholes (except for the manufacturer drain whole) just bad surface rust. Waht's the best way to get rid of it and treat the area? I was thinking taking a wire wheel on a drill to it to clean most of it up then something that would do a more fine finishing clean up. Then POR-15 the entire tire well (everything below the hatch floor). What are your oppinions? Here a pic of the area: http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=5626&password=&sort=7&thecat=500

I'm looking for the ZG fender flares and rear deck spoiler. Anyone know of a reputable place that might have them? PM or email me brandon@jdmtoys.com if you can help. Thanks for your time. Brandon

When applying POR-15, do you put it on the inside or outside of your car? My Z was & still is pretty solid accept for some very little cosmetic rust spots here & there. My floor boards were getting wet until I put a cover over it. Since then I have pull ALL of the carpet out and noticed that the boards were still solid. It hadrust coloring though. Should I pour the POR 15 there or under the floor boards? I was planning on getting it painted & treated around July or Aug. Should I wait until then or do it now? I'm also ready to get it tagged up & ready for the spring.

CHECK OUT THE PICS IN MY GALLERY!!!! A fellow member told me the interior may not be original, I have a weird ribbed headliner, and also some speakers fabricated behind the seats in the toolbox things. Please tell me what you all think, oh and also if you think it would look good with black diamond vinyl interiro... Thanks

I was trying to remove the bolt for the passengers seat belt and this is what happened.. removed more than I expected... Rust has gone through both the inner and outer rockers, and has gone up the door jamb.

I will be looking at a '71 tomorrow that has a vinyl top. The owner says that there are 4 or 5 bumps under the vinyl that he suspects are rust from water leaking in, although he said that there were no cracks or splits in the material. Sounds like a risky proposition. Any way to check out the condition under the vinyl without ripping it off? Or is this a buyer beware situation?

Is there a good way to remove the emblems from the Z without breaking the tabs, or would getting the car painted without removing the emblems be advisable to avoid breaking them? Thanks, Victor.
