Just bought this set of sexy mirrors for the Z. Can't wait to get them on but they are not on my priority list. Need to get the car on the road first. What other mirrors, other than stock, do you guys think suit the 240/260? Cheers

I have a '72 240z which needs paint and minor body work. The question I have is concerning Bondo and the effects it has on the value of the car. I understand large areas of Bondo are not good, but is it acceptable to use Bondo on door dings approx. sizes ranging from 1/16" to 1/2" in diameter? The other question I have is: Does anybody know of a trustworthy automotive shop/mechanic in the Houston, TX area that can "refresh" the engine and auto transmission? Any info would be great! Thanks, Bill

http://zdriver.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4857 Personally I find it very hard to believe it does wonders, I'm wondering if anyone has heard seen or experienced what this does? I personally have used McGuires car polish then Canauba wax over the top of that. I do it all by hand as a orbital polisher I find leaves alot of swirl marks. Anyone got a product to share or tips to make your paint look stunning. I find my red car lots of hard work to keep shiny.

Ok, looking for some thoughts. I'm going to be doing at least some of the floor pans and frame on my 240Z. (see http://www.csar.uiuc.edu/~mdbrandy/240Z/240ZRust.htm for some of the worst of the rust). I've been talking with Charlie Osborne and will be getting some stuff from Zedd Findings to do the worst of it. So, I'm going to do as much of the teardown as I can, and get a pro to do the welding, since I've never welded before. My question is, how much of the floors can I safely remove myself (if any) before having it towed to a shop? I have plenty of air and power tools to cut about anything I want. If I removed pretty much the entire drivers side floor pan before…

Are the brackets that attach the front bumper on a 240Z straight or curved. When I bought my 71 it had been in an accident of some kind and the front bumper was missing. I assumed that the bumper brackets were bent in the collision, but now I see the following for sale on Ebay... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2413188378&category=33640 and those look just like the ones that I have... except that mine are rusty of course... I do live in Indiana. Are they supposed to be that shape?

Well, I bought a 240Z without knowing exactly what I was getting into - I knew about the rust, replacing floors, etc., but Charlie Osborn tells me that one frame part that I need is not available and has to be fabbed (the part of the frame rail behind the passenger side T/C rod pocket). See the attached picture. The drivers side is OK. Anyone replaced this piece and have any advice? I've only had the car about a week, and I've gutted most of the interior so far to see what I'm up against. Hopefully it's worth it. It is a 1970 - car number 215 built in 11/69. Some more pics of the rust problems at: http://www.csar.uiuc.edu/~mdbrandy/240Z/240ZRust.htm Thanks for an…

Ok so here's my situation without going too deep into story. I had my car reversed into by some moron a while back, no note was left but I was left with a broken bonnet. I could have got the old one repaired but I was told it's very difficult to get it right again and I really wanted the custom vents it had. See my gallery last page for those. So after speaking to my local Z guy I opted for a later style (280z) fluted bonnet. (In Aus these came on 260z's 74 onwards). It was originally green but my car was Ferrari red so he sprayed it red for me. After having it done I noticed in a few spots that there was an orange peel roughness to some parts of it. The rest would be smo…

I have seen a 240Z which featured something similar to the thermo-tec adhesive heat shield along the underside of the transmission tunnel etc presumably to reflect the heat radiated from the exhaust. Anyone have opinions on whether something like the is worthwhile or saw justification to do this? I remember in an old Z i used to own the interior side of the transmission tunnel got quite warm.

What would a decentlypreped black primer paint job with a clear coat look like. I don't know anything about painting except from what I have read here. But I figure a black primer with a clear coat and some shinny silver wheels might look actually kinda cool. Also I heard there is aprimer with silver already in it...ever heard of that... that might be cool also. So since flat black looks cool what would flat black with a clear coat look like?:classic:
