I had my car cut and buffed a couple of years ago and have waxed it a few times with McGuires #7 glaze. Now after spraying It off with the hose pipe I have some water spots. Will a clay bar get those out? My Dad said vinegar and water would work but I'd rather clay bar it. Vinegar's for pickles. Thanks for any replies. Cliff

I will be selling my 77 280z after i paint it. Should i paint it single stage or base coat clear coat? Single stage is cheaper but dual stage looks better and is easier to spray. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

You may remember my recent thread discussing a sun roof repair / patch method that I was proud of. Well, It seems I've wasted my time. It turns out Sun Roofs are back in style and cool again. Looks what's all the rage at SEMA this year. And guess what my new project car has? STYLE, that's what it has, STYLE, not a dreaded, hated sun roof. It's in great shape (the sun roof, not the Z) works fine and the roof is stiff as anything around it. Real happy I don't have to repeat the whole cut and patch on this car. How could I DARE to spoil such a special vintage, highly coveted (well it will be once the SEMA Car pictures are spread far an…

A lot of 280z cars have these chrome strips on the doors and underside of the doors, like the orange one below, are they original? I've never seen a brochure where cars had them. If they are not original, when were they introduced on the market? Or were they an option? The 260z 2+2 in the picture won an award for being original, while it also has the strips on the side.

Something this rare and un-exected needs to be shared. Going up the hill to happiness: Working on stripping down a friends 72 to send it to the paint shop. Car is really nice everywhere, no reason to expect much rust. Engine bay, frame rails from the outside, battery tray, dog legs, all clean. Going down the hill to hell. Finally get to tearing out the interior, floor mats, padding, then some kind of PO applied black tar like sheeting, seems like half sound deadening, half dampener, and when I pull that up, what do I find? Fibreglass! GD Fibreglass applied edge to edge, front to back, covering the entire floor. Both sides/. Oh wonderful, I know EXACTLY what…

Im about to paint the metal spokes of my 1972 steering Wheel. I will use a wire brush and then a satin or semigloss black paint with primer spray. Anyway i wanted to know what is the process to clean the Wooden Wheel and the correct original paint color.

Hi all-so I have my 240Z almost completely blown apart to prep for paint, and most of the gapping looks pretty good to me, however, I have one outlier: the passenger corner of my hood sits about 1cm high, and about .5 cm forward, from where I'd like it to be. Looking around, I don't think I can shift the headlight panel without displacing the gapping somewhere else. If I could get the hood to just sit LOWER at the front right corner, that'd mostly do what I want. I have the bumper and grill off, so I can access the hinge bolts with the hood closed easily. I tried gently to loosen the bolts that hold the hood to the hinge(can't shift it), as well as the bolts that hold the…

My jack seems to be working, AFAICT, but it's no longer new, and could use a bit of cleaning and new paint. I suppose I could either scrub or glass-bead the surface, then repaint it and re-grease the screw. I would prefer a longer crank handle tho. Some appropriate safety or usage decals seem appropriate too. Getting one from the JY would save you the hassle of cleaning and painting, but are they really compatible? IMO, the base has some size restrictions, and the head needs a slot for the pinched seam of the rocker/floor panels. If you repainted it, is there a proper paint? Unless you wanted a concourse-class jack, semi-gloss black or silver seems appropr…

Greetings all. First off, a quick introduction. After looking for a long time, the "right" 240z came up for sale locally recently. Originally a Texas car, it has no rust whatsoever. It was a 1972, with all the mechanicals restored. A new 2.8L short block, rebuilt head, new carb/suspension/brakes/radiator. Interior parts were either restored, or originals were in great shape. All in all, the only thing the car needs in paint and a windshield. So we came to a fair price, and I took it home last week. Very excited! So here's my question: 1-are there any tips to pulling the front and back glass, and locking mechanisms? I want to do this gently, and find there's al…

I have a early 1974 datzun 260z on the drivers side rear tire is the inner fender wheel well I call it . just below that is a small panel the attaches to it like so you do not see the muffler from looking at the rear tire [inside behind tire] . I guess if you had mud flaps back there the flaps might cover it . it is a small curved panel so as road dirt does not fly up on to the muffler. any way I need one and can not find what the name Nissan called it as so I maybe can look up the part # or source a used one . I have one on the pass. side but not the drivers side .anybody know what it is called or better have one for sale. kind regards kully
