Recently noticed the Paint shop that charged me US$4,750 for restoring my car did not aligned the rear fenders with the doors. They are arguing that they were aligned before installing the doors seals. I have a 6 month guarantee on the job done but unfortunately the owner of the shop died two weeks after my car was delivered and now they do not want to answer phone calls and honor the guarantee. In this sense, i will proceed legally against them and ask them to appear for a citation at the consumers protection board. Anyway, i still need to fix my car and have posted the pictures to see if someone can instruct me on how to get this straight. will i need to cut and so…

I mirrored an S30 photo to see what full symmetry in the design would be like. The proximity of the hand brake looks a tad too close to be comfortable. The ciggy lighter and volume control would also be too close. The hot exhaust on the drivers side and transmission tunnel is not favourable. Sitting directly behind triple carbs with the window down is nice. Having lived in Ireland, and being right handed, I do find that driving on the right is more ergonomic and natural in the cabin, plus it aligns with how ships and planes pass.

Anyone know where I can find the gasket that goes behind the lock for the fuel door? Unless I'm calling it the wrong part, blackdragon and MSA nada.

I've read a number of threads about how people collapse their later model bumper shocks before installing 240 bumpers on their 260s and 280's, but I have a slightly different question... I would like to know what it looks like if I were to move my 280 bumpers closer to the body, but I'm not yet ready to throw in the towel completely on my original bumpers. So anyone got any pics of a 280 where they've collapsed the shocks but are still running the original bumpers?

Hi all, Thought I'd pass this craigslist ad along. Two vintage bullet mirrors for $50. Add says one is loose. Some restoration / painting required. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/pts/5760336410.html For the price, it's probably worth getting, especially if you just need one... Saw "new" ones on JDM parts website for $850, (but none available). I've got spares, or I'd buy them. Julio

This has probably been asked before, but I've gone back to 2013 on this forum and haven't found it , so here goes. I'm trying to install the front-to-rear rubber seals that attach to the welded seam between the upper and lower front fenders of my '71 240Z. I'm told they go thick-side down, and curve outward . So far so good. What I'm unsure of is whether they attach on the inboard or outboard side of the welded seam. Also, the rubber seals (new) I have are a bit shorter than the length of welded seam available to them - do I set them to the front or the back of the seam? Or does it matter? Second question is with respect to the battery tie-down. The nearest…

Is there any weather stripping in the engine bay of the S30 besides the strip on the cowl that the hood sits on? It seems that water can drip down in/around the inspection hatches a bit. (this may have been because my hood wasn't latched down (latch is not installed currently) This was during a car wash, but I tried to be more careful around the hatches because I was afraid it might drip down a bit. Not sure where I should reasonably expect water to make its way into in/around the hood/engine bay area. Thanks

Hey gang, I have some great news to share. A new "Spray Chrome" business opened up in (near) Calgary this year, and is only one of two in Canada at the moment. There are likely others in the US. A little googling might reveal one near you. The cost of setting up this business is a bit steep, and the expertise and process puts it a bit out of the realm of the do-it-yourselfer. But the thing to remember here is that you can Chrome ANYTHING. Don't want a section chromed? Just mask it off. This is our local business. http://www.cosmic-chrome.com/ They are family owned, the father and his two sons do everything. Bruce (dad) and Jeff (oldest son) are very moti…

Looking for info about the different styles of lower door hinges on 240Z. Mine was built 2/70 HLS30-01769. It doesn't have the roller & cam style hinge as seen on later Z's. It has no roller to provide a detente action. It has instead two short arms that sandwich the spring arm and limit the door opening travel. Any ideas about when the roller type hinges were introduced? I need to repair or replace. Thanks.

I am trying to figure out the exact stock paint "plan" for an early series 1 engine. I would like to know what pulleys are painted blue, which ones are natural or plated, what adjusting arms are painted blue, which ones are left natural or plated cadmium, what color was the air pump inlet painted or plated, Fan clutch finish, etc. If anybody has all the details I would greatly appreciate the time spent to detail it here. Thank you!
