I was hemming and hawing and about taking the tank out of the 71 I'm working on to see what's going on underneath it mostly. This car is so nice and rust free I didn't expect much problem but I needed to deal with plugging off the far left vent line anyway (evap tank delete) so out it comes. Chance to clean up all the bits and pieces back there and make it look all pretty. So I'm undoing the fuel lines and notice something. Is this a bad thing? Did something throw up on my gas tank? how about this? Or even this? That line that's blobbed in with silly putty is a replacement pickup. Check out what's in the end Time to get a anot…

Many months ago I purchased this series - 1 air cleaner for my 240z. Since the car was built in August of 1970 it should have one. The original had the snorkel cut off to make room for the dealer installed air conditioning. When I purchased the car it had a common "flapper" series - 2 air cleaner. These air cleaners are out there but they are hard to find and prices have been rising over the past several years. Additionally, finding one with the snorkel in good shape is even harder as the metal is very thin and once damaged it would take a very skilled person to fix. When this one popped up on Ebay I bought it for $150 shipped. When it arrived the condition was a l…

I am posting this in the Body and Paint forum since this is really a paint/finish question. Several months ago I purchased this Series-1 air cleaner off of Ebay. I paid a fair price for it, $150 shipped. I was in the middle of buying a new home so when it arrived I opened it and based on a quick inspection I deemed it was good, placed it back in the box, and saved it for another day. Recently I unboxed it with the plan of getting it blasted and powder coated. The picture below shows the original rust and pitting before I dropped it off at the PC shop. In my haste to move forward I dropped it off, not really looking at the pitting. Hoping for the best I go…

So moving on from the carbs to the doors. while it doesn't look too complicated I am having issues. The passenger door isn't catching at all, by this I mean the door won't even shut. I tried adjusting the striker on the b pillar but no success. The drivers side door closes beautifully but does not open from the outside but does from the inside. Also can we use later year nylon locks for all the rods? Thanks!

Hi all, There is a "hole" in the top left side of the windshield frame on RedBird. The photo I am sending needs to be enlarged to see what I am talking about. When RedBird arrived, all that could be seen is the "cracked look" to the paint close to the corner. I have recently noticed that there is a hole that is just under the edge of the weather stripping. Perhaps the black stripping has reacted to our heat, and shrunk up some, enough to reveal the hole below. I am concerned because I don't know where it leads. Could it be a dead end pocket to gather water when it rains, or when I wash her? Yikes!!! The way it is situated, it looks like a direct drain in…

So the Pandem aero wide body kit that Sun Kang used on his 240z is available in individual parts now (https://www.shopgreddy.com/17020400.html) and this has me wondering how much it would cost to have a body shop splice the ends from another front air dam onto this one. If I had more glassing experience I'm pretty sure I could do it, but it's a lot of money for an experiment ($400 for the Pandem spoiler and at least $100 for one to sacrifice for the ends). WHY CAN'T THEY MAKE A NARROW VERSION!?!?!

Hi everyone: I installed new fuzzy and rubber on the passenger side door. I notice that there is a gap. However the driver side door there is no gap. Does the window frame allow any adjustment?

I dug through the forums and didn't see this topic addressed anywhere, so I thought I would start a thread to see if anyone had anything to add to it. I will probably end up painting my Z the original Orange (#918), but I have been pondering the idea of painting her a Datsun color that didn't come on the Z originally. There was a Z at the Import Nationals a few weeks ago painted in what I think was the Sora Blue (#563) that came on the roadster and, while not my personal thing, got me thinking that there are tons of beautiful colors Datsun used that didn't make it onto the S30. So, to that end, I thought this would be an interesting topic to bang on while my bui…

I'm repainting my Black Pearl and am wondering about the pin stripe. I've search past posts and found something in 2009 regarding a pin stripe kit that once was available. Does anyone know if this available anywhere or should I just paint the stripes on? Any help would be appreciated.

Some of you may be familiar with the Harrington Group (http://www.groupharrington.com/en). They market stainless steel bumpers for 240Zs and other classic cars. The bumpers are built well and mount up to the 240Z very well. I even adapted a set to fit on my 260Z. I started a conversation with Nguyen Thao when I sent a message to let them know I was a happy customer. I suggested to Thao that there could be a market for other stainless steel replica parts for the 240Z (and maybe later Zs, too). I suggested the threshold plate (I accidentally told him door sill.) as an example. I got their attention, and he wants me to send some photos. I'll probably send measurements, …

Just received my POR 15 floor and pan restoration kit. Paint shop is finally stripping all the floors and removing the ugly jute material under the carpet. Has anyone experience with this product? What are the steps to get the most out of it?

Have read good reviews on this product which is sold in AMAZON website: http://www.lizardskin.com/sound-control-insulation.html Could it be sprayed on top of a layer of POR 15 and then covered by JUTE MATERIAL?
