While painting the engine bay of my 240z , the shop went over and painted the bag that encloses the windshield wiper motor in 904 White. Is this okay or will it look much better in the original black color? I hope the paint can come off!

i purchased my early 260z with a missing mirror. On closer inspection I found that my mirror was ripped out of the door, 4 times.. I was presented with essentially a 5" long series of holes in my door so prior to painting I welded them shut with an additional piece of sheet metal inside the door as a reinforcement. I used a light coat of body filler to smooth things out over the new metal and the door looks normal after paint. I bought an OEM mirror from courtesy Nissan and now i need to drill holes into my repaired door. I would like to know the exact mounting location to keep things stock. My car is an early 260z and I am unsure if that makes any difference. Than…

Hey guys, just wondering if any of you have tried this Fairlady grill from MSA? I've always liked the look of these but never ventured as far as to find an original JDM piece. Much appreciate photos if you've got them. Seen only a few of them in my ventures. Black one: Motorsport! Fairlady Style Grill, Satin Black, 70-73 240Z, 74-78 260Z-280Z<font color="990000">*</font> - The Z Store! Nissan-Datsun 240Z-260Z-280Z-280ZX-300ZX(Z31/Z32)-350Z-370Z Parts It looks like they also have a gunmetal version (too pimp for me): Motorsport! Fairlady Style Grill, Gloss Gunmetal, 70-73 240Z, 74-78 260Z-280Z<font color="990000">*</font> - The Z Store! Nissan-Da…

Hello Z fans, Been getting a lot of work done on the Z lately. I did some extensive searching, but cannot for the life of me determine which green paint I have. It is a 1976, but it appears to be an "early 1976" since it has the storage hatches behind the seats. No sub floor (or at least it isn't there anymore...) Engine bay and spare tire well are green, so I know it was originally green. The original paint "Color Code" sticker is intact on the radiator frame, but the code is not there: It has faded or whatever. I've tried different angles/flashlights/etc.. but cannot make out any sort of numbers at all. I've looked at the paint code si…

Just went to the shop where my 1972 240z is being painted and found that beneath the carpet and over the floor pans there is some type of rotten carpet. Can anyone identify this type of carpet and if it consists of a road sound deadener? Isnt there a more modern approach of any other material to replace them after the floors are primed, protected with POR 15 and painted?

Will be removing the complete engine on saturday with the assistance of two mechanics and the lifting chain. Is it recomendable to remove the air box housing with its filter before starting to remove the engine in order to avoid from getting it dented and scratch and to wrap both carbs intakes with plastic to avoid any dirt getting inside of them while the engine bay is being restored and painted? I think i read in another fórum there is a list of things that needed to be done as draining the fluids, etc. What else needs to be done with the engine once its off the bay?

All: I'm going to be painting my 280z soon and had a few questions before I take that leap. I have been doing a lot of blocking trying to get things just right. The lighting in my garage kind of sucks and since most of the work is done in the evening it can make for a challenge. I have several Halogen light stands and I put a fluorescent ceiling light in, but I'm worried I might miss some low spots and blemishes. I've tried shining a light at low angles along the surface and have found some trouble spots, but I wondered if anyone here might have some other useful methods. I bought some of the 3M dry guidecoat but I'm not sure I want to use it. Here's my…

Just received a call from the paint shop asking me for new floor pans and rolling boards. Who sells high quality and thick metal gauge floor pans and rolling boards? Are MSA Quality reliable?

ZKarz sent me some windscreen wiper arms, but I need some blades for them. "240Z" blades are very expensive, so is there a compatible make &model of automobile that I can use as a reference? Universal wiper blades don't seem to look right, because they are black, and the old stuff looked like stainless steel, correct? Has anyone tried the frame-less blades, like the beam blades?
