I originally posted on my build thread about the different NOS Frame rails i have here: @Patcon & @CanTechZ requested that i make a special thread for it, so you can discuss. so here is the same information again: @Namerow: Since you cought my interest on this, i decided to have a deeper look into this. I have two different sets of NOS frame rails, one is grey and the other one black. one set is already sold, one grey item has already been cut up by my previous bodyshop to fix my chassis: Here you can see the two sets with the partnumbers labelled on it. The main differences are the mounting brackets (see red circles), some "wings" which were adde…

Ok, so like many of us I have been dealing with a previous owner that put a driver side oem mirror on the passenger side. As expected looks close, but useless for actually seeing anything. Well I was contemplating getting a friend to 3d print a new "base" so the stalk would align correctly when you flip the glass around. i was digging through some old posts here about the angle of the stalk etc and came upon this one: and down about halfway was an ebay listing from 2021 showing this mirror and what intrigued me was the RH and part number ending in 2 rather than 1. So i worked out a deal with the guy to get the last one he had even though as @Pa…

Hi, What is recommended? this 3M tape says use it at a hidden location to make sure it doesnt damage the paint. Has anyone tried? Or should i just use the 3M double sided tape it is pretty strong for emblems. Not sure how it will hold up to the water etc. during cleans over time. Also, for front fender emblems should i apply some on the inside of the tabs too or tape on the outside is sufficient? https://www.walmart.com/ip/3M-Plastic-Emblem-and-Trim-Adhesive-03601-1-oz-Tube/16913676?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&wl13=2025&adid=2222222227716913676_117755028669_12420145346&wmlspartner=wmtlabs&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&…

Wondering if anyone else has purchased & installed these moldings. They are very nicely made - BUT - they are not pre-bent to the door cap curve. Website just says bend to fit, and Edan unfortunately is not good at responding in a timely manner or actually answering questions about the products he sells. All he said is that it bends easily, when I asked pre-purchase. I have tried to get more specific directions from him directly, to no avail. Since the molding is flat, I can only 'assume' the contour will correct once bent, however I'm still unclear logistically of the best way to do this. If it would bend easily, one could simply press it down on the door cap to…

Hi Guys, Any preferred place to get a quality weather stripping. I need the Qtr panel, door and rear hatch ones. Also noticed the original front door weather stripping which sits around the sill plate etc. has a lot more harder material than the rubber ones we see online. Should I try to save some portion of the original one?

I’m waxing the z today. The first time since I’ve owned it. I noticed lots of black comes off all the rubber trim. What’s the best thing to do to preserve all the rubber trim? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Whenever I do body work on a panel that has holes in it to accommodate the pins on the back of the emblems, I usually cover over then with body filler. Often times these holes are a starting point for rust. I usually cut the pins off the back of the badge and attach them to the body using 3M autobody trim tape. With the holes covered and the pins removed it's hard to determine the exact location of the badge. Attached is a template I made for proper location of the emblems on the rear hatch . You can print it off, cut it out, place it on the right rear corner of the hatch and mark the exact location of the badges. The dots on the template are the exact location of whe…

I came upon a head-scratcher as I was prepping parts for blasting and painting for my May 1971 240Z. All the black suspension and drivetrain parts under the car look about the same, with a standard coat of semi-gloss/gloss paint. Except one part: the front diff support. This part seems to have the same thick undercoating we've seen before (directly on the metal and under the factory color coat overspray). Why would this one part get coated with this thick coating? (And no, it's not a dealer spray!) And the coating is on both top and bottom of the support! Here is a major run/drip of this stuff...on the TOP surface. I broke open t…

Started a restoral process on my quarter windows and noticed that it seems the passenger window has the Nissan stamp "reversed". With all this PO has done wrong I'm wondering if he took two driver side pieces and made a passenger out of one of them. Or maybe the factory only had one version of the glass and flipped them on the passenger side for convenience.

I am trying to install the two door handles on a 72Z. The window glass keeps me from accessing the screws on the inside of the door that I would fasten the outer handle baffle (flat metal piece) to. The actual slot that the glass sits in appears to have 3 fasteners with nuts holding the glass in place. I'm wondering if it is feasible to loosen those nuts enough to lift the glass out of the slot so I can access the door handle from the inside then reinsert the glass. Clear as mud? Any comments are appreciated.
