Hi ladies and gents. I am starting to assemble the parts for the motor and found that the previous gentlemen working on the engine painted it with a ford blue of some sort. I was wondering if anyone has pictures of a full restored engine, with or without factory overspray. What gets spray bombed, and what stays clean? I am particularily looking at what gets re-plated and what stays bare or gets coated with the engine paint. I have little things like a new dipstick tube that sees like a stainless piece (NOS part), but I am unsure as to whether I should stick it in there prior to painting, or after. I am trying to get as close to the factory 01/70 finish as I physic…

Hi guys. I have a Nichira Datsun 240z Exhaust... It is a full unit with a seamless bent pipe. Looks to be in great condition. I was wondering if anyone has any pics of what the full unit is supposed to look like. From what I understand, the later 70's Z's have a Nichira exhaust with the part number last 5 digits being N3300... I'm not sure if this transfers well to the early 01/70 early z's E4100 5 digit suffix. Does anyone have any insight into the original finish/exhaust system for the 01-70 z's?

After 186K mile, I've decided it's time to rebuild the bottom end of my L24. Figured since the engine would be out, it would be a good time to paint the block. Researching this forum, I saw a reference to Glidden code GL31557 as the Nissan OEM color. I decided to contact Glidden to see if they would have formula for that color. When I contacted them, it appears the automotive paint products were sold to PPG. I contacted the PPG color library. They could not match the code but found two engine codes for Datsun, a Blue-Gray # 19885 and a light green #48104. Unfortunately, these codes only came in an expensive, single stage Acrylic Urethane paint and would require an Epo…

While trying to adjust my passenger door, which wouldn't shut without slamming, I can across this thread. It seems to indicate the latch is missing a piece of rubber on one of the lobes (the larger one). The suggested fix was to cut a piece of rubber tubing and glue it onto that lobe. The other fix was to carefully remove some material from the catch so the locking lobe (the smaller one) doesn't hit before coming down into locking position. When the rubber is there I assume it worked great since the first lobe starts to rotate sooner to drop the second lobe into postion quicker. I'm thinking, why in the heck did they decide to use rubber in this area! No wonder they …

I found an eBay auction for a set of rechromed tail lamp trim pieces and it makes you wonder if it's worth the price, would you just keep what you have, or would you rechrome your own trim pieces?

Here's a pic evolution of my '73 240z. Had it since 2012. Originally green, a recent paint and body has it looking great again. Check out the day I brought it home. The engine pic off craigslist. It's got a 280z 5spd with dual SU carbs. Some steel wheel orignals and a hood that fits... Another wheel upgrade and as clean as I could get it. Finally in for paint Getting stripped down 2013 Nissan GT-R Red Back in the garage with no dents, fresh paint, all chrome blacked out and some plastidip on the wheels. Caffeine and Octane in Alpharetta Still a lot more to do on the inside, brakes and engine. Very cool to be able to bring this one back to life…

Ok, so we are getting pretty close to spraying primer on my 1970 restoration project. I have all of the new trip pieces and NOS logos, etc... The whole body is going to look great, except the gas door latch- the chrome is pitted and rotten looking. Do inhale any alternatives other than sandblasting it and getting it re chromed? Any aftermarket replacements? Any suggestions would be ost appreciated.

Hi all - I've looked on motorsport auto, and they have the panel, but I'd be a fool if I didn't ask here too. It is that top plate that sits above the taillights, the latch goes through it. Mine is roached. Thanks all! Curtis

just received a box of shiny goodies from mike at vintage chrome - my hood vents are now beautiful!! these vents were painted by the PO and while in good shape, they were far from perfect. mike had them cleaned up and plated and now they look like jewelry. very satisfied with what he's been able to do for a very reasonable price. not only is the finish flawless, they got the polish to a level that actually provides accurate reflections - photos don't do it justice, i'm impressed. hope to get them installed this afternoon and will post more pics. highly recommend these guys for making z parts shine!

Hey gang, as the title says i'm in need of 1 one rear bumper bracket for a 1970 240z. Send me a line if you have one you want to part with at a reasonable price. Our's was missing when we purchased our project car. Checked ebay and nothing is available there except the incorrect SS version. Thanks!!
