I am trying to figure out how to install the cowl weatherstrip. I take it, it gets glued down with it wrapping the metal strip? I was also wondering if it supposed to bend toward the engine or towards windshield. A photo would be much appreciated.

Hi, This forum has so much experience, and I am in a situation where I am not sure what is the best/right thing to do. I restoring an early 1971 240z, and I just removed the rest of the suspension and the fuel tank from the car, so now it is completely stripped down. The car have had a very nice PO which did take car of the care and got it tectyl protected when it was in the states. So I have found very little rust on the car The tectyl in the arches are so stiff that it is cracking of when im using fiber scraper, so im going to remove all of that before the car goes to the painter - but the tectyl underneeth the car seems to have very good connection wi…

I probably should have posted this in the classified, but was wondering if anybody has an extra set of tail ight gaskets they might want to unload. I accidentally purchased extra seals for the hatch glass and windshield so if anyone is intrested, I will be willing to trade, or just pass what I have on to help another project out ( minus shipping cost ). Thanks for looking, if you are intrested, send PM Eric / Yakhopper

I guess sometimes you have to get pissed off enough to fix somethings. A complete resto and my passenger door has never been right. The passenger door always had to be slammed and acted like it was sprung. The bottom of the door didn't line up flush with the bottom of the body line rear quarter. I tried adjusting the latch a million times it seemed. Pulling up on the door from the end it seemed that the hinge was slightly worn. So I pulled the door off after trying again to adjust everything and decided to shim the bottom hinge. I just grabbed a scrap of .060 aluminum and cut out a shim to put under the lower hinge so I could raise the door just a bit. What a difference i…

Higuys- I took a look at the headlamps while the car was up for the winter and the splash guards were out, and I took them completely out! YUK. They were pretty dirty and much oxidized, and all the rubber parts are dried up and brittle. I thought that it would be nice to put in new headlamps with removable bulbs, and new rubber seals. I consulted with John at H4Lights who has a very nice headlamp with the XB3 bulb. I will consider adding the (relay upgrade) but I think the wiring is working well enough for the moment. I suppose I could clean up my old housings, but some parts don't look up to the rigors of DIY cleaing, especially the brittle wires. This ti…

Are there any other options to purchase all the rubber seals for my 1972 240z other than www.vintagerubber.com? I already purchased both driver and passenger door seals from them. I am looking for high quality seals but their prices seem very steep. Any recommendation of OEM Nissan seals?

Hi all, first post. I picked up a 73 240Z a few weeks ago and have a quick question. I repainted the rear panel yesterday, but notice on some panels I've seen, the thin metal piece that is crimped to the panel surrounding the tail light is chrome and some, painted on others. While stripping mine it looked like bare mild steel with no evidence of plating, so it's painted. What's the story on the chrome style trim panels? Thanks, Ken

merry xmas to me - a day off and some time to play w/my toy picked up a nice new rear bumper from futofab: http://www.futofab.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=131&Itemid=118#a_rb and i'm quite happy w/the quality of the parts. nice chrome, good fit, speedy delivery. i pulled the stock '78 bumpers off a while ago and was going back and forth on whether to do the bodywork and have a shaved rear or install a 240 rear bumper. decided on the bumper. i made some adaptor brackets out of aluminum flat bar that use the 2-bolt mounts on the bumper and bolt up to the threaded holes from the stock mounts. a little measuring, cutting, drilling, a…

Hi, Sorry about the topics title, but I am not sure what the item, I want remove is called I am removing bits and pieces from my frame, so it can be cleaned out and painted in the spring, but I stopped at this item: I would like to call it a hatch hinge insert - but anyway it seemed sealed and thing that should be removed. Is it possible to remove with out to much damage? And if yes, any tips on removing it? Thanks, Martin * Edit: Ok, so they where that much glued to the frame, that I got frustated and asked about removing them in here, sorry about that! I took a deep breath and went back into the garage and heated them lightly and tapped them out. …

I apologize if this is a little dumb. How do the L shaped brackets for the front bumper go on a 240z? Do they mount facing each other or away from each other (hopefully that makes sense)? I'm asking because I cannot get the ends of my front bumper to not contact the body of my car. Thanks for the help. Cheers, Scot

I'm getting my front and rear spoilers painted black on my orange 240. I like a low sheen finish but the painter called and said after he got started on them they were originally done with black gel coat. Could someone who wasn't in diapers in 1972 tell me the sheen as they remember? Gloss, semi-gloss or a satin finish? Thanks for any help, Cliff
