After 8 years of fits and starts restoring "Buttercup", a 7/70 build date 240Z (#7032) it has come down to the interior, which was completely stripped and the old tar mat removed. While "Murdermat", "Fatmat", and the like are what are commonly used as upgrade/replacement--- I wanted the original deal--- as close to the factory fitment as possible. After lots of net searching I finally found what I thought would be as near the original asphaltic mat as I was apt to find. I bought the mat from AutoAtlanta FOR PORSCHE: WU890100, WU8 901 00 - READY TO SHIP - (WURTH FLOOR PAN TAR SOUND DEADENING INSULATING KIT) , a purveyor of restoration parts for Porsche autos: I us…

Hi, My Z432 has an genuine option rear spoiler. But it is not periodically correct one. The one is for 1971 or later. Last month I have got a genuine earliest spoiler from Mr.Terashima. He is a hard core enthusiast , he has 2 Z432s and 1 Z432R. The earliest spoiler is a very, very rare to see.We sometimes see the ones but they are usually reproduction one.It is easy to distinguish, repro one does not have correct stud bolts nor brackets. Also we can see it from the outside, the 2 vertical ribs on the top face is a kind of short, lack of its length. My earliest spoiler needs to be restored,I want to do it myself. The later spoiler is improved so much in the forming…

Hi Guys, 1977 280z. Paint shop broke my windshield on the reinstall so I am searching for a replacement. Where do you guys normally get your replacement glass from? A saw that Zstore has one for ~$500 delivered, ZCar has a Polycarbonate option for a little more, and JDM does a local pick up option for around $400 but CA only. Is that normal? And are there other places to look? Painter mentioned that he had some local distributors he is going to get some quotes from, but that he was skeptical. https://www.thezstore.com/product/4901/oem-quality-tinted-windshield-70-78-240z-260z-280z-coupe https://www.ebay.com/itm/304775098526?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=…

Please, does anyone have instructions for attaching the '71 vintage AMCO front bumper bar to a 240Z? So far I've seen bars mounted on top of the rubber (vertically mounted) over rider strips. In this case is the embedded top bolt removed from the top of the rubber strip? I've also seen where a bottom portion of the rubber strip is removed so that the bumper bar would sit directly on the metal over rider, using the top bolt hole in the over rider to mount the bar. I believe that the fitment is critical so that the bar appears parallel to the road. I've seen a installation diagram for a '73 bar, but it's different from what I have.

Hello Guys, I wanted to find out if anyone out there has ever attempted to install 240z pans in a 280z? Reason I ask is that if I need to change the floors I might as well cut the whole thing including tunnel out. I bought a 240z tunnel from a donor car and I prefer the carpet kit of the 240 vs the 280z. new to this forum thing so don't know if this has been asked before? Thanks

My 280z has minimal rust anywhere except the frame rails. The passenger side is pretty bad, drivers side not as bad but I still want to replace. I found someone locally that will weld the new frame rails on if I find them for $600 dollars a side. I ran across this site Apex engineering that sells the pair of frame rails for $650. Has anyone bought/installed these? These frame rails look like what I need. Here is the website. https://www.apexengineered.com/store/p105/Frame_Rails.html# Just how dangerous is it to drive a Z and not replace the frame rails, seems dangerous to me. Any help will be appreciated, Lee Farris

My old trusty bottle of 3M rubbing compound is almost too dried out to use. It's more like a thick paste now than a liquid. Think more like peanut butter than mustard. Anyone have any tips on what solvent to use to thin it back out again? Old, dried out, and pasty. Happens to the best of us, right?

On my lunch 1/2 hour I swapped out the bullet mirrors (that were wobbly) for these chrome ones - I think they look more appropriate, however the pass side doesn't have the range of adjustment to make the rear quarter visible form the driver's seat. These came from ZcarDepot. These were inexpensive, but... pass side is USELESS. Anyone else dealt with this? Also laminated the original cold start notice I found in the sun visor

Recently i stumblet upon this blog Post from my mate @florian at Datsun-Autowerk, where he claims that some Z's had a secret spare key box in the front radiator frame crossmember thing. After asking a bit more, he said that he had seen it on two cars so far. I had a closer look at my currently sandblasted frame, but no indications that it ever had it nor that it was modified at some point.. So we checked our R-drive manuals. it seems there were three types of front crossmembers, but none of them ever had a box, according to the drawings: Same with the L-Drive: We couldn't find anything in the "keys" section of the Parts m…
