listen guys, I did a long search on Z forums about this matter, and it really sucks, coz some guys give thier own opinion about the term "soft" or "stiff" ride while every person considers it differently, I need a smooth ride (but not like riding a bout) because I have a stock 280Z and as u know the 2 seater really shackes u up when the road is rough since u are sitting between the rear whells I need an asnwer with numbers, from my search I saw the recommendation of KYB GR2 361002 for front and GR2 361003 for rear.. and tokico THZ 3012 and HPK 253 since Tokico is stiffer as people mentioned.. as I said, I'm not a racer type, I just enjoy the ride without feeling the …

I just took a look at the Atlantic Z car club page about the Tokico strut replacement. They're refilling the strut tube with fluid for the Tokico's. The KYB instructions (for the GR2's that I am inserting) don't say anything about this. Do only the Tokico's need strut fluid?

I lost a lot of pics of my 'disassembly' when my hard drive crashed so I lost a lot of answers to my questions. The orientation of the front wheel bearing: does the larger diameter end face the tire or the car? All the pics in the shop manuals and catalogs have a circular picture of the bearing and not the 'cone like' shape of the bearing as it really is. I can't tell from the pic on the Atlantic Z Car bearing page which way it is actually in the hub...

I'm planning to buy new spring set for my 1977 280Z as many people recomended, I searched for them on VB, I noticed that they are available only for 240Z, part number at VB 87-900 for Eibach on the other hand, Suspension Techniques have for 280Z on VB with part number 87-801.. on shox.com they have eibach springs for 240Z only, and when I search for 280Z it shows 280Z all trims from 79-83!? they mean ZX don't they? from where do 280Z cars owners have Eibach springs? or they just fit a 240Z spring set on thier cars? coz if it was supposed to loer the car by 1" on a 240, it will lower a 280Z a bit more and might handle differently..am I right? thanx

Hi all, I just took a set of 4 Tokico HP springs out of my 71Z that only have 10 miles on them. The ride was too harsh for me. I just purchased them from Motorsport three weeks ago. I will let them go for $170.00 plus shipping from upstate NY. These are the red springs. E-mail me at zztom71@hotmail.com. Ebay is next for them if nobody is interested on this site. Thanks, Tom

I am replaced my first set of spindle pin bushings today and discovered a slight problem. If I tighten the nuts up too much the control arm is really difficult to move. If I torque them the the recommended 65 ft. lbs. then the arm probably wouldn't move at all. I was thinking. . . Is it really important for these to be that tight? My answer would be no. They are locking nuts so it isn't like they will fall off. Even if they did, what would it matter. The spindle pin will stay in because of the locking pin. And it isn't like the control arm could just fall off. Tell me what you think.

Any thoughts on replacement sway bars front/rear for a 280? How does one brand differ from the stock as far as feel goes? How does the thickness of the sway bar affect the feel of the car? And, about that gap with the ball joint....

Hey, I need new steering rack bushings, the company I ordered from, PST, sent me 2 thin bushings instead of one thick and one thin. I've search the common MSA, Black Dragon, Courtesy and their years only go to 73 240 then consider 74-78 260 and 280 the same part number.... does this mean I should get the 260-280 kit since my car is an early 74 260? The pictures for the 240 shows 2 different sized bushings, none show the other years so I don't know if they are the right kit to buy. Thanks

I can't remember when I removed the suspension 'stuff' if there was a gap between the ball joint and the transverse link. There was so much grease and dirt to clean out. Either way, the joint doesn't sit flush with the t-link but all of the nuts/bolts are flush with everything. See pic...

Yup, so here it is nearly June and I still haven't driven my Z yet this year! I'm in the process of replacing the Struts, Springs and Bushings. Good news is that the Front is Finished... Yay!!! Not hard at all. Everything came apart easy and went back together easily. The Rear is another story. The transverse link pins were giving me a fit so I decided I would just do the struts and springs and hold off on the bushings so I could get at least a month of driving in before the snow starts falling again. Now the problem is that I can't get the darn nuts off the halfshafts/axles/driveshafts. What gives? The ONLY tool that fits on them is an open end 14mm wrench. Not a…
