Hi all, I'm new here, have read threads on auto to manual conversions and I think I can list what I need for a conversion to manual in a 260Z. What I'd really appreciate knowing (before I buy the car) is roughly how much a conversion would be in Aussie $, not doing it myself, i.e. parts (if I can find them plus) fitting. Any ideas?? Thanks

Anyone ever deal with these guys on Ebay? The price seems too good to be true. They have 98% feedback and sell a tun of stuff it seems (over 5000 in feedback), but it seems they wizz at least 16 of those customers off a month (Judging by their negative feedback). Just looking to see if anyone here had a positive buy from them. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7965097213&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

I am going to need to replace the tie rod ends on my '73, so I've been shopping around (I have quite a number of other things to order as well). When I looked at the Victoria British catalog, the ends are listed at $19.95ea, however when I look at the Courtesy Nissan online catalog they're listed at $54.55! Does anyone know who VB's supplier is for these parts? Quality? that's quite a difference in price (IMO).

2 weeks ago my driveshaft dropped on the highway when I down shifted to take an off ramp. I took it to a mechanic who put a new U-joint in. When I went to pick it up he told me it still needs a transmission mount and differential mount -to go find them on the internet and he would put them on. So I have read through the drivetrain threads and am guessing that my tranny is prob a R-180 (I have a '73 240z with 4 spd). I have found threads that discuss the diff mount and clunking which my car is definetly doing now but do not see a transmission mount. Is this the moustache bar used on R-200's? Any help on part names or where to buy ? Thanks in advance.

I have been looking into suspension mods for my 260z and there's so many things to consider, Was condsidering 2 options, Lowering the car an 1" with lowering springs or Lowering the car 2" by sectioning the struts Though about lowering the car only 1", would do this by using special 1" lowering springs, BUT - i have taken measurements of the front end suspension of my car and The lower-control arm pivot point on the crossmember is roughly 16mm off the ground, and the lower-control arm to ball-joint point is roughly 14.3mm off the ground, So, if i take out 1" of spring height i would make these points roughly horizontal, Which i was told was not a great idea by s…

I've got a grinding/washing machine noise from the rear that's been with my '78 ever since I bought it this past spring. I've replaced the differential fluid, and that didn't seem to do much, there were no particles in the old fluid either. The noise is commesurate with the speed of the car and the gear position doesn't seem to matter at all. I took off the wheels (but not the brake assembly) and it didn't seem to matter which side I rotated (holdin the opposite side still). Is it a bad diff, half shaft bearing, half shaft u-joints, or something in the brake assembly? When it comes time to store the car in the garage I'm going to take it apart and hopefully get it ba…

What's the recommended type and weight for the 4-speed and diff oil. '70 240Z. I haven't changed either since owning the car. My shop manual just says use what the Datsun dealer sells; doesn't give type. Thanks, Steve

Well, I couldn't wait to get tags on the car, so I took it for a quick jaunt around the block. The PO warned that he thought it may need new ball joints as the front end felt "loose" and had a vibration. Well, he wasn't foolin. I haven't had a chance to jack it up yet to check the ball joints, but I did crawl down to have a look at what might be going on. The passenger side tie rod end is completely shot; I could wiggle it a good 1/4" using just my hand (remember, the car is NOT jacked up). The driver's side end looks to be okay, but again I havent gotten the wheels off the ground yet. So here's my question: I see that you can buy just the outer tie rod ends (makes sense)…

I have bought a new shift knob from MSA. I told the guy I dealt with over the phone that I was buying the shift knob for an 1983 zx transmission in a 1973 240z. He told me that the thread size from 1970 to 1983 is the same, 8mm. The knob won't fit on my car. My shift lever is too big and I will start to strip the knob if keep forcing it on. The shift lever thread size is more than 8mm. Maybe the guy at MSA is corrrect and I have no clue as to what my tranny is. It is a five speed, and I thought it was from a 83 zx. All I really want is a shift knob that fits. Ideas?

What exactly are the symptoms of this? I am getting a 93 probe gt as a daily driver next to my 240. I test drove it today and the salesman said it was going. Heard a clunk clunk as we turned the corner and hit a drive way. Anything else that clunk clunk coming from the passenger side could be?

Hi all, First off, it's running again! Woohoo.... (Thank you to VictorL for the use of the cherry picker all this time!!) it's been a long time since I got to drive the Z and last night was its maiden voyage with the rebuilt F54 L28... yum! So while I was down there I swapped out the old beat up stock rubber clutch hose for an MSA stainless steel one. Right off the bat I noticed the threaded portion that screws into the slave cylinder is almost twice as long as the OEM rubber hose. So rather than just screwing it in as far as it would go and leaving a bunch of the threads exposed I measured and got the right number of washers to fill that gap. I wonder though now if that …

Ok, 73 240Z, new clutch MC and slave, was able to bleed them fine, the problem is I have the adjustment out to the last thread and the clutch is still at the floor! Still not blead? Everything works fine just I don't like the clutch engaging a 1/4" off of the floor! Looking for suggestions!
