Has anyone made the front crossmember that holds the differential to the body instead of buying it?? It has that flexible joint/attaching. It seems to be quite hard to get new ones here in Finland.... Can I change the rubber part or is it glued so that it is not possible? Is there some alternatives to the factory mounting?? Do they use more durable parts on more powerfull cars?? You guys that have rb26dett?? Do you have original Nissan part on your differential mountings???

I am installing CV axles out of a 79 ZXT into my '71 240Z. I have an R200. I did the dust cover mod, cleaned and painted the axles. Now they are too long to fit into the car. I talked with another guy putting the same axles into his Z and he is having the same difficulty. He says the way to go is to machine the outer hub, cut out 1 1/2", press them flange back on and weld 'em up. I have never heard of people doing this mod. I know people install these CV axles but this is a new one for me. Anyone done this?

Everytime I grab 2nd gear at high rpm, (6500+), the gear crunches as if I wasn't engaging he clutch properly. I have drag raced before, and it has caused me to miss the shift as well. It has gotten worse over time, and only happens when engaging 2nd gear. Sometimes when driving in traffic and things heat up, it's sometime hard even to shift into 2nd as well. If I shift into 3rd from 1st for a brief moment then that will allow me to get into 2nd. I have a strong feeling that the synchro is shot. Anyone can confirm this kind of experience? Is it more cost effective just to buy a used tranny instead of having someone tear it down and trying to replace/rebuild it? It's a lat…

I have an R200 clutch LSD, it is making a strange noise that gets louder when I go faster. I sounds like metal sliding across metal. It is not a scratching or screatching sound but more like a sliding sound something like schhhhhh.... The lsd action still works, it hooks up well with street tires but I have not used it with the race tires as I do not have a race until April the 24th. Do you think it is the friction plates and disks? Please help.

I am working on the suspension on the '71 that I bought last year. Putting PU bushings and re-doing the tie rods, ball joints. From the receipts I got with it, the PO put in some Koni red shocks, around 20+ years ago. I am wondering if they are still good. The car handles well and seems to ride fine. I had a set on my first Z in the early '80's and recall something about being a "lifetime shock". Aren't they adjustable in some way as they get older? I pushed the pistons down and they stayed there. Aren't they supposed to rebound back out? Also one of the rears seemed to have bubbles escaping next to the piston. I figured that couldn't be a good sign. Probably l…

I have the early NISMO diff (R180, LSD, 4.11 r&p, bolt-on flanges) in my 71 240Z (ex BRE modified car according to Rodger at ZBarn). It is in excellent condition. If I keep it I need to change out the flat mustache bar to move the diff back and install the other required pieces. I would consider swapping in a R200 for the CV axles but wonder if that would be a mistake. I regress... Anyhow, what would my apparently rare R180 be worth? I know the value would be directly proportional to a buyer creating A BRE copy or performing a BRE restoration.

I was scouring the net for good deals on Suspension Techniques anti-roll bars but became a little confused... Most sites will list front and rear bars for the 240z from 70-73 Parts# 50095, 51075 (respectively) They will also list for the 260z 8/74 and up Parts# 50100, 51080 If I have an early 260z, which do I go with??? I'll be inquiring with the vendors but was hoping someone here had some experience themselves with which ones to purchase. Little help?

I want to upgrade to CV halfshafts on my 71 240Z. The rearend is a R180 LSD with 4.11 r&p. From searching, I've concluded that diff must be from a later vehicle (possibly truck?) because such a carrier was unavailable in the early years(?). Can I determine whether the flanges (that go into the diff housing) are snap-in or bolt-in without any disassembly or is that the only method?
