So i finally ordered my struts and bushings, getting ready to order the springs. as i was taking off all the old suspension, my friend realizes that my strut housing is from a damn 280z. i got tokico illumina struts: the fronts are originally for the REAR struts of a 77-79 MR2 and the rears are the FRONT 240z struts. Sounds bizarre but after researching i found out these would be a good combination for the rate and height that i wanted. BAD NEWS would be that the moron who had my car before decided to stick 280z housing onto the 240. My question to any of you that can help, if i decide to keep the 280 housing... is there any advantage to using 280z housing? and if i…

Anyone have any experience or heard anything about the coilover suspension offered by Pitroad from Japan? The price and setup seems comparable to ground controls and modern motorsports coilovers. The link to their L engine catalog is: http://www3.ocn.ne.jp/~kyuusya/index-3.htm I also asked them a question about their coilovers in their Q&A section, and this is the response I got, although im not quite sue what it means. What is a AJASUTINGU tube? I dont understand any Japanese unfortunately... Who makes the coilover kits for the 240Z? Also does the one in the catalog for 45,000 yen include both front and rear coilovers? Does that price include springs or just the …

Well we had a pretty darn nice weekend here in Charleston. Sunny with highs around 60F. The wife and I got to do some cruising and it was awesome. We went through a parking lot on our way to supper where all the local ricer riff raff hang out and they were all staring with envy... Sweet. I was able to wash wax and vaccum the Z. I also jacked her up in the air and rolled under her with the creeper checking stuff out. Changed the oil. I drained the differential and replaced the fluid with Castol Hypoy C 80w90. I still have the whine from the drive line. I will be replacing the fluid in the Tranny soon too, but I've got a feeling the diff might need a rebuilding. Whe…

Just wondering if anyone else has tried using coil springs from other cars in their Z to lower the car and/or provide a stiffer setup. I think the coils from a Jeep Wrangler will work in a Z, but of course it would take some experimentation to figure out how much to cut, then some math to figure out what rate of spring you wound up with.

Hello all, I found a guy from ebay that has a machine shop that is willing to make short shifters with a 10 mm thread pattern for the new style shift knobs< which are 10 or 12mm as opposed to the 8 mm original size>. I got a rough quote from him of $50 a piece with an exhange and he said he would be appreciate if I could send an extra core shifter. I just wanted to guage the interest in this type of shifter and if someone if interested I can give them the contact information. That way i can say I have a club that might be interested in x amount of them. I still think 50ish is pretty good and he would shorten it to your exact desired height. Just thought I would pass…

was wondering if it was worth swapping r180 at diff(3.54) into my 71Z with stock mt diff(3.36)? i know the way everybody goes is with the better ratio (3.90 and 4.11) R200's, but i might be able to get one cheap. i'm guessing it would be a no modification direct bolt-on since they're both r180's. i assume it would be a small improvement off the line, but if anyone here has experience or thoughts, i'd appreciate the input. if it's a tiny improvement, it wouldn't be worth the trouble unless my original dies. thanks guys.

I am trying to find out the differences between the two front suspension members that were used on the S30. Actually there were four, but three of the four are in a replacement succession. From the club fiche: 54401-E4100 was used through 7/73 54401-N3402 was used from 8/73 through 11/74 54401-N3403 was used from 12/74 through 12/76, and superceeded N3402 54401-N4700 was used from 1/77 on and superceeded N3403 The MSA catalog lists one from 69-74,and one from 74 on, which agrees with the club cd interchange data. Does anyone really know what is different between them? I can get one from a '76 parts car, and compare it to the one off my '72, but if some one ha…
