Here's one that retains the function of the horn. Great theft deterrent! A friend of mine just put one on his Datsun - not a Z, maybe a 510 I'm not sure. But it should fit a Z with the proper aftermarket wheel hub. http://nar-spec.com/12630/23222.html Here are the pics of my friend's install: Column with the wheel off- http://www.datsun510.com/photopost/data/500/102Mwheel-off-med.jpg Back of wheel- http://www.datsun510.com/photopost/data/500/102Mback-of-wheel-med.jpg Stacked height (about 3/4")- http://www.datsun510.com/photopost/data/500/102Mstack-height-med.jpg

Does anyone knows where I can get new gears ,etc., for my transmission???

Forgive me if this has been discussed before. Having an R200 rearend in my Z, is there an LSD rearend I could get from a wrecking yard to bolt in? Or, is there an inexpensive upgrade I could use?

I recently took my transmission to a local sandblasting place to get the front bell housing sandblasted and I think some sand might have gotten into the transmission. Is this possible? The only part they sandblasted was the front bell housing which was still attached to the rest of the transmission. But Everything else was covered. The way I figured out that there might be sand in there is because when I move the shaft by hand it sounds as if there is sand playing around as it spins, easy to spin too. The only place where I can think of it going through is from inside the housing behind the throw out bearing there is a plate which I had removed the bolts from but not the …

My 72 240 has sagging springs in the rear that cause it to sit real low in the back; so low that i can't even go out my diveway without scraping the rockers (Ouch!) I'd like to get a set of replacement springs for the car but modern motorsports has all different types of spring rates, which one do i need? Edit: actually they only sell coilovers, is there a place that sells regular replacement springs for our z's? Also, are the 1" eiboch (SP?) springs any good? I imagine even with the drop springs it should raise my car up? It's about 2" lower in relation to the front the way it sits now. Thanks for any advise guys.

B&m racing (transmission/shifter people) has a program where they borrow your car for a while to develop a shiter to fit your model. People in the in the Los Angeles, Ventura, or Orange County areas, should call them and tell them to put the S30 model on the "To-Do list." An aftermarket replacement manual shifter wold be nice, but I'd like to see an H-gate (4 spd pattern) shifter for the auto trans people! Since the S30 is THE MOST POPULAR SPORTS CAR IN THE U.S., they should design an auto trans shifter. They had one in the late 80s, so why not redesign it for modern cars?? thx B&M Car Search List Phone: 1-818-882-6422 Hours: 7am - 11:30am and 12…

I would like to use the finned rear cover on the R200 lsd in my 240z. I know that v8-240z (?) had aluminum braces available a long time ago. Does anyone have any for sale or the dimensions needed to make one. I would not need an aluminum one as it will be powder coated anyways. thanks

Has anyone pulled one apart or have a 240 service manual? I pulled the side retainer off to adjust the inner side shaft seal and bolted it back together with the 2 metal shim gaskets. But looking at my 510 manual the R160 has the 2 shims and a large o ring seal? I didn't see this o ring on the retainer, does the R180 have one?

OK, I admit it. I have never taken a transmission apart, and I don't know how synchronizers in a manual transmission work. :stupid: As a degreed engineer, I feel really silly about that, and want to rectify the situation . It's one of the only parts of our cars that I don't at least have a basic understanding of. I love books, and if anyone has a suggestion for a good book about transmissions in general (manual and auto), I'd love to have the title, author, etc. Otherwise, anyone want to post an explanation? I have several spare trans sitting around, and I'm planning on taking one apart soon, so I'd like to know they actually operate before I dig in :paranoid:…

Hey Folks, Looking for a bit of help while the rain keeps coming down here :disappoin I'm coming up with some plans for a big brake conversion and need to design the caliper adapter, can anyone fill in the dimensions shown in the attachment? I'm pretty sure d is 3.5", no idea about radius r or angles a and b. Any dimension info will be greatly appreciated though. Once I know these I can dummy up an adapter in wood and hopefully the sun will shine long enough one day for me to dash out and try it all out! Cheers, Rob
