Who woulda thought it was possible !! I bought a new urethane type moustache bar bushing to replace the rubber ones. I cut the top folding bit off with a hacksaw, and then burnt the rubber out. I was then about to remove the original bush housing but then I looked at my urethane bush and thought "Nah, this will fit in here perfect, the new bushing will be too small if I cut this bit out". Well, after a LOT of co-ercing I got the thing in and it looked like it was made for it...but then I put the metal centre in and the bushing just balloned everywhere. The metal centre does not protruce both ends of the bush, but I have installed it for the mean time. If I dont notic…

This is Stacey. I live in El Cajon, CA. I need to find out if anyone knows of a good and not really costly place to have my struts done. Around $350.00- $400.00 would be ok. If you could let me know it would be great. Thanx.

Does anybody know how much a 5spd weighs? Couldn't find it doing a search and I can only guess from the last time it was out of the car. Maybe 100 or 120 lbs. Its for my 300zx but that can't be very different in weight from the 5spd in my 260. Thanks in advance. Chuck

I'm rebuilding a 240 motor and need some help. I took my machinist my crank pulley and he said it looked scary. the embedded rubber was in pretty bad shape and he was concerned about its stability. I want him to balance everything but he thought I should try and find another pulley. I'm up for ideas. This is my first thread so I hope I'm doing this right.

I am changing a GTR skyline lsd to zed r200 long nose, I am stuck as the crown wheel from the gtr needs to be changed to suit the zed pinion, has anyone used a different crown wheel as the zed one needs to much machining to change to 17 mm bolts.

Just got bushings from MSA (Prothane brand) delivered, checked their site and they state that some bushings are designed to use the original OEM outer sleeves, some not. All the info I have on replacing these say to press out/ hacksaw out the outer sleeves before installing Poly bushings to allow for the extra clearance but not specifically this brand. Hard to see if they'd fit with or without since I don't know how much compression (if any) is needed for install. Anybody put MSA/Prothane control arm bushings in and did you need to remove outer sleeves? I'd hate to cut them out and then need them to fill a gap.

Seeing as my car is likely to be coming apart in the next few weeks for repaint (and roof repairs - see thread in Body and Paint ), I am putting some thought into tidying up the suspension and drivetrain (I'm also going to switch over to poly bushings all round). As far as refinishing the suspension and brake assemblies and shafts is concerned, my thinking at the moment is to either go down the POR-15 or Hammerite routes (for those of you in the US, Hammerite is the main UK brand of anti-rust metal paints and is widely used for coating car undercarriages, chassis etc.). However, my question is about refinishing the springs themselves. What approaches have people used? O…

Santa brought me a new (well, mostly new) differential for my 240Z. I was running a 3.90 open diff and now have gone to a 4.10 with LSD. Basically took an R200 4.10 open unit (used of course, but in very good condition) and installed new bearing/seal and a limited slip unit. Spent new years day installing the beast! After the install was completed, I took the car for a drive. Oh yes! With the late model 280ZX tranny, 4.10 gearing, and 24" rear tire diameter....the car seems to be geared just right. So at 3000 rpm, I'm going approximately 75 mph (calculated). Anyway, I am pleased with the upgrade and will not miss having the inside rear tire cut loose, when coming out of t…

After upgrading to my springs and struts to the tokico ILK-252, I have been a bit concerned about the amount of travel in the front. The pictures posted below are of my car sitting at the curb, no passengers and a half tank of fuel. FRONT REAR As you can see, the front has virtually no travel left. Even with the struts on the highest setting, around corners I can feel the front end bottoming out. The ride height does not look significantly lower in the front and the ride quality is not 'too' bad though I think it should be a litlle softer. I am concerned about damaging the strut insert since I did not install bump stops but that is another story. Do I need to hav…
