A few years ago I had the struts replaced on my 260 and noticed that it sat quite a bit higher than it originally had with the stock worn out struts. http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=8588&size=big&sort=1&cat=500&page=1 I have junked the front and rear crash bumpers but other than that the car should be about the same weight as stock. To me it looks like it sits higher than normal. Any ideas, Chuck

Hell friends. At the moment I try to install a new suspension because auf problems with the old one. But the springs whill not not realy fit Old: - stock shocks, no cartridge. - blue MSA Springs (told by preowner). - rear strut not enough rebound, when wheels are free from the ground, the sprong had about 1 inch play. - The car was on his maximum lowered, because the was not much working space left till the bump stopper get in contact. Distance to the ground (edge of fender) 64,5cm Front and 62,5 rear. Now my new tokico illumina's and springs: Rear: rebound nearly o.k 5mm missing. Front: the strut rod is about 3cm too long, on the picture you can s…

I confess that I've not climbed under my '71 240Z to look at the rear of the transmission which might give an indication of what I have. The car is bone stock but there is a 5 speed transmission. Having only driven a '82 Nissan truck there is nothing I can compare it to. The cars pull smoothly through all gears with no noticable dispartity between any gear. I've driven a lot of 4 & 5 speeds and know about large jumps between gears such as in my NV4500 truck tranny. The console also has a small metal plate affixed with two screws showing the shift gate pattern. It appears to be quite old and original. The only noticable problem is engaging 1st gear. It requires being st…

Hello all, this is my first post on this site though I have been reading for over a year. I would first like to thank everyone for the infinate amound of knowledge contained within this site. You have all made my Z car restoration so much fun. I have a 1971 240z with 45k original miles. I bought the car from the 2nd owner but he had not done anything with it in the 2 years he had the car. She had been parked since around 1984. After going through the brakes, fuel lines and tank, carbs and spark plugs, she drove fine! i drove the car for about 6 months everday to work and never had one problem...unbelievable. I have since decided to buy a new car in order to restore my Z. …

Hi, I am new to this forum and I just bought my 71 Z a couple months ago. I'm currently doing all the brake upgrades (4-pot front & rear disc conv.). Anyways, I don't have the FSM or Haynes Manual on me. I haven't found the time to buy it. I searched, but I had no success. I am on the verge on finishing up the project. I just need to know the torque spec on the lock nut (or otherwise known as a castlated nut; like a castle) of the front wheel bearing. Your help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance Keith

Hello all, I have been told that the stub axle on a 240-260z car upright is the same size and design etc as the Australian made Commodore. Is this true? I know that the upright design is different etc I am just talking about the stub axles themselves. Thanks for your time guys

I need to buy bushings to remove the slop in my shifter. MSA told me I need to know if I have an "A" or "B" transmission. Are there any diagrams of the two types on line so I can tell? Thanks

While I was rebuilding the front end I removed the steering rack to replace the bushings and paint it. Stupid me I forgot to remove the plastic grease fitting and it broke off :stupid: Anyway, does anyone know where I an get one? I checked Victoria British, MSA and they don't carry them. Danny's Datsuns quoted me 25$ for one. I was thinking about just putting a bolt in it for that much. THANKS
