Hi all, I just ordered a set of BC Racing coilers and a big brake kit from TTT. I was wondering if anybody had any recommendations on a machine shop or welder in the D.C. / northern Virginia metro area. Thanks Chris

Hi guys, I was reading that the 280z's rear strut mount was higher than teh 240's and requires a spacer (this part). If I don't add this to the car, does that mean the front will sit higher than the rear or did the 280z have a rake to it when new?

Anyone ever deal with these guys on Ebay? The price seems too good to be true. They have 98% feedback and sell a tun of stuff it seems (over 5000 in feedback), but it seems they wizz at least 16 of those customers off a month (Judging by their negative feedback). Just looking to see if anyone here had a positive buy from them. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7965097213&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

Ok, I've been reading all the threads on disassembling the rear stub axle/bearings since I'm about ready to do that on my 280Z (dropped out the entire rear suspension yesterday, and am going to do all the bushings, shocks, springs, etc. at once). First question: the axle nut. Several posts have indicated to dremel off the peening before removing the nut. That makes sense. However, the 1978 280Z factory manual has a big bold warning: I'm assuming the that manual's term "caulking" is the same as peening the nut, since the manual instructs to caulk the nut after reinstallation. Do you think this is a typo and they really meant "do not FORGET TO release it"? Why wouldn…

I am am STILL trying to decide on springs for the 71. Today I found out MSA no longer stocks their own lowering springs. I am intent on getting Non-progressive springs. OK so we had all agreed here last year that the Tockicos are progressive, even though they dont look like they are. Now the MSA rep on the phone today insisted the tockicos they have are NOT progressive. He says there are RED. He says the set is # 4PS5020 He quoted the fronts at 140 pounds, the rears at 165. What do yall think? I want decent handling, not bone jarring stiffness, but stiff is ok for my needs. I intend to get tockico HP shocks, probably from the shocks guy on ebay.

OK many of you may recall I've been posting questions about spring and strut choices for about a year, and finally settled on ST springs and Tockico HP's . My mechanic(who has owned 240-Z's) put em on today, and.. It's another case of the front end being over two inches taller, while the rear is OK. Note before and after pics.:stupid: We do have the springs marked as "front" on the front end. I was involved in thread regarding the ride height issues caused by newer gas pressurized shocks. But you may recall there was opinion voiced that newer spring designs, including the ST's would not have the increased ride height issue, with modern shocks. This really sucks, so I…

I used the search function and didn't find a clear answer to my question... I called MSA and told them that I have a '70 240Z with the original 4-speed and that it's loose where the pin goes through the fork. The sold me a new pin & snap ring, which I installed. It didn't make any difference. Is there suppose to be nylon bushings, washers, or something else there besides just the pin & snap ring? Thanks, Steve

I posted this in the new classifieds section on the website but it's had a whole 1 view since the 9th of May. http://www.classiczcars.com/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=334&sort=1&cat=5&page=1 I'm after the rubber boots that go over the shock absorber and inside the actual spring. They are a simple boot designed to proctect the shocker from Dirt/Dust/Water etc.. I believe they were not on the 240z as standard and possibly first made there way on to the late 260z's and 280z. Does anyone know where I can find them either brand new or second hand? I've been quoted $200 AUD for a set here and think it's a bit steep.

I just measured my car. From the jack points on the framerails. Front = 5 1/4 Rear = 5 5/8. Reason I'm asking is because I'm trying to find out who made my springs. I only know that they are powdercoated blue with no other distinct markings.
