Has anyone sectioned their front struts too give more front suspension travel? I am thinking of making this modification, and using the Rabbit or MR2 struts, but I haven't found any thing on springs used. I have considered coil overs, but i want the car to look stock(I will remove the perches with a lathe and a steadyrest, figure out the proper ride height, and weld them back on.) I searched out forums and didn't find anything and through Google found only two or three blurbs. The modification makes sence, and absolutely reclaims suspension travel. Will

I am hearing a whirring noise that seems to be coming from the rear I noticed it last night, and think the symptoms are more noticeable now that the weather is turning cooler and I have to keep the windows rolled up. It really makes the noise when I'm in first gear, or coasting in neutral., but not as noticeable in other gears. If it is the diff, do you think it's better to just get one from a junkyard or for sale on the net, or have a rebuild done at a tranny shop?

Hello fellower Zer's Well, Z's back from painters, and all put together, now time to try ander understand why the front end sits about 1 inch higher than rear. About a year ago I put Eibach progressives in, tokico non-adjustables, and poly bushings. According to searches on this site, the .001 went in the front, .002 in the rear. (by .001 and .002, they are the last 3 digits on the part #'s) Do I need to cut the front springs  Any ideas? Thanks Dave

Zed owner in needs help with ID on this broken drive shaft. The shaft in question was for a 78 280 with a 5 speed manual tranny (at least that is what he thought he had). When he purchased a drive shaft thinking they were all the same but found that the new shaft was about 3cm or less than 1" too short and the splines did not match output shaft. He sent a drawing explaining the splines & length, I can't recall ever seeing this type splines before? Trans & shaft may been swapped from previous owner? Any ideas? I told him someone here may have seen this and Iwould pass it along. Thanks Craig Are T5 trans output shaft splines different?

Hi All, I am in the planning stages now for a suspension upgrade that I want to do over the long winter hibernation here in Chicago. The car is an early '71. I use it for street driving and about 1 high speed autocross a month at the track. Right now the car has Koni shocks front and back, stiffer competition sway bars front and back, and as best i can tell, it still has the stock springs. It actually handles pretty nice and corners fairly flat with this setup. With the original bushings still in there, I think there is room for improvement. I plan on keeping the Koni's and the sway bars. I have already acquired Energy Suspension PU bushings. While I have it apart I p…
