I was wondering if the bumper height on the '78 280Z is consistant for all the cars? My front seems to be higher, or the back springs are sagging, but I can't tell without taking the struts out (too costly). thx.

I've seen gear ratios from 2:56 up to 6:50 in a racing supply catalog. Can someone explain what the ratio is? Like for example, 4:11, does that mean for every 4 rotations, another gear, spline, etc. turns 11 times? If this question has been answered before I'm sorry, I tried looking it up but couldn't find anything:ermm: Vicky

I've acquired a set of 5 of these wheels in fairly decent condition. The question is what size tires were fitted to the 280ZX turbo 15" wheels. I imagine back in '82-'83, they would have been 70 series, but that may give me starting point for a 15 inch set of tires.

I'm re-doing my full suspension and I want some reference. Previously my car was extremely low (1 3/4" to front cross member) which caused problems for street driving. I want to raise the car, but not too much! What do others have from bottom of front cross member to ground, and from bottom of rear cross member to ground???????? I'm thinking from 2 1/2'', to 3 1/2", would be in the streetable range for the front. The back I haven't even measured yet. I want to make it into driveways and over speed bumps (with care), but I want the low look also. Thanks, Pancho

Have purchases 4 Tokico HP cartridges for 75-280. Made appt. at Import auto shop for installation. 2 weeks later, delivered car...and 3 days later no service had been performed. Owner, now wants to "discuss" the enormous job to replace these. The car has not even been inspected by them, and its a So. Cali car with no rust on bolts !! I've already changed all suspension bushings, and even the exhaust manifold to headpipe bolts came off without pent. oil !!!! Is the dreaded spindle pins scaring them ?? What labor hours have others paid for changing all 4 struts ???

Hello everyone. I have a 1970 240Z with a 2.8 (f54), a p79 head and an 82 r-200 dif. My question is, do I use the 1978 or 1982 5-speed I have sitting in my garage. The 78 may be better off the line, but I may get better mpg with the 82. By the way, I have already cut the hole in the trans tunnel for the 78. Let me know. Thanks, Rick.

I need some help from the group here... Is it possible to put a late model 260/280 rear strut assy on a 72 240? If so are they different? or is my Z possesed:tapemouth Here is my dilema:stupid: I am trying to put in my new Tokico HP struts but the old ones are about 2 inches longer than the new ones ( I checked the application on Tokico's web site and I supposedly have the right ones) and I am sure I'm not putting the fronts on the back. Any suggestions from the group or am I shi* out of luck and have to buy the correct strut housings?

Looking to see if someone will provide me with the transmission chapter? I would like to rebuild my transmission. Can you make copies and fax the pages to me, or sell me the book for cheap? I'm bidding on one on eBay, but don't know if I'll win it. My transmission is manual 1981-83 Nissan (not T5).

Hi all, Do you recommend a source for refurbished/remanufactured axles? I am looking for a pair for an 86-8 automatic 200SX That's the R180 rear end with circlips The only car I found at the junkyard locally had wheel locks (on stock wheels!) and the axles didn't look so hot... so i thought I am putting in a new R180 with just rebuilt Nismo LSD in the back of my '73 240Z so why not spend the extra $$ and put in "new" axles at the same time... So does anyone recommend any shop? mailorder? courtesy nissan??? etc... Thanks, -e

O.K, next question before I destroy my half-schafts, I would like to know if I can replace these one's. All the books say yes, but I don't know the history of swapping parts of my car. Do I only have to pull out the cap above the bearing seat, to reach the spring ring ? Thanks in advance Rainer
