I have been debating weather I should rebuild the L28 or drop a 350 in my 79 280zx. One thing that has me wondering is I was told you cant do it in a 79! Is this true. And one more thing how hard is it to switch my carburated motor to the fuel injected one!

I think a "steering cooler" is like a trans cooler, but smaller for the steering fluid? I'm almost done with my steering rack and when I went to gewt the hydraulic hoses, they kept asking me if I had the cooler. thx

My 77 280Z seems to sit higher in the front (nose up in the air). Car was disassembled and 90% put back together by someone else. I don't know if the front is too high or if the back has been lowered. It has stock steel rims and hubcabs with standard size tires. I've measured 66.5cm to the inside of the wheel arch in the rear and 71cm in the front. Does any one have any idea what the original numbers would be? I'd like to bring the front down but don't know if I need stock springs or shorter one? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

Put a new diff mount in today and noticed that I still have a bit of a "clunk" under acceleration. Also recently changed the mustache bar bushings. One thing that made a big improvement was making a bushing for the two bolts that hold the rear of the diff to the mustache bar. I found some rubber tubing the had the same ID as the studs and cut a piece about 1/4 of inch thick to insulate the part of the stud meets the mustache bar. Any one have any ideas or a better solution? Just trying to get the diff to move as little as possible, Thanks

Tore into backend of my '71 240 to replace a bad bearing on the right side stub axle. Decided to inflict more injury by replacing the 33+ year old spindle pin bushings. Managed to remove pins using the K.Blough method using washers to pull em out slowly. The metal sleeves in the Energy suspension poly kit were deviated with undersized bores and had to get replacements from their factory in San Clemente. Installed outer bushings in transverse link with the replacement sleeves. Mating the link to the spindle pin housing shows a .040 tight fit with the link bushings fully seated. No way it is going together! Anbody experience this problem and what was done to fix it? Could M…

Is there a place that sells replacement T/C rods that arent $200 each? Not used ones from an old car that are in who-knows-what condition, or that might be in worse condition than the ones they're replacing. I wouldn't want a racing product that makes handling difficult or a rougher ride, either. the alternative would be to have the ones that are on there magnafluxed. You shouldn't have to worry about losing a wheel in the midle of nowhere. thx

Our Z cars originally have one drive wheel. I've installed the MSA limited slip differential on my 77 280Z. It seems that when I punch it both wheels grab, like a posi rear would do. I know what limited slip is but would like a professional explaination as to how this type chunk works. thxz

I'm having some problems installing my new end links. Have repalced all other poly bushings with no problem, but when i try to install the end links I can't get enough threads to start the bolt at the bottom of the link. Yes I've jacked up the control arm to line it all up but still no luck. Any advice? Thanks, Dan

tranny removal 1 2

I'm about knee deep in my auto to 5spd swap and have a question. Is it possible to drop the tranny without removing the exhaust? Don't really want to drop exhaust since that opens a whole new can of worms. Pretty sure that exhaust studs on manifold will break if I torque on them. It looks possible but probably a big pain in the arse. Anybody done this with the exhaust still in the car. Thanks, Chuck
