I have a couple of questions. I am afraid that I already know the answers, but here we go. First, Did the 71 240Z have a rear sway bar? The reason that I ask (obviously...) is that mine doesn't, and the Haynes manual shows one. I discovered this when I finally got around to starting the process of replacing the rear strut insert. The second question is: Does the STOCK front strut assembly have bump-stops? Again I ask because I realized AFTER I got both front strut inserts replaced that there were no rubber bump stops present. In this case the Haynes manual does NOT show bump stops on the 240Z strut. Only the diagram for the 260Z shows a rubber bump stop, but all the afte…

Would someone please tell me the correct way to check the AT oil level on my 240Z. Is the engine ON or Off, Hot or Cold -- this info is not in my owners manual.

I have 2nd gear slippage on my, recently bought, 240Z. 1st and third gears seem not to slip. Please tell me if there is an adjustment to correct this. I recently installed an oil cooler; could this have caused the slippage? The oil level seems OK, but I'm still confused on how to check it. I was told that to check the AT oil level I should run the car; then turn it off, wait 15 min; then check the AT level with the car engine Off -- is this correct? Thank you

Hi, I have taken the halfshafts apart from a 1978 280ZX. I am ready to put them back together and bolt them to the differential - its a R200. I am not having much luck finding the nuts that are used to hold this together. All in all, I need 8 of these 10mm 1.25 pitch nuts. Does anyone know where I could find some of these nuts? I would really appreciate any help on this... Thanks, joe

OK, here's some basic info.....1977 280Z with the LSD from MSA. It seems that the rear-end seems to slip. I can actually hear the rear-end teeth......I think. Buy this I mean the teeth in the gears are slipping. Is this normal with a LSD? It also appears to happen more often than not when making left hand turns slowly. Is the left rear wheel the drive wheel on our Z cars? There is nothing leaking, just noise like the teeth of the gears are not lined up. Anybody else ever experience this? Vicky

Hello ya all, well today I took my my car in for a wheel alignment and they told me that the rack and pinion was leaking and was no longer useable and if they aligned it it would just go out again, well any way they wanted $590.00 to put another reman. rack and pinion in it and bushings, . like I was going to pay that much, Well I looked one up on parts america and the rack and pinion was $179.00 reman., well I was thinking about going to a pick and pull and getting one, but my question is which years are interchangeble with a 78. Thanks

A previous owner apparently cut a coil or two off my 280zx's front springs to drop it down a few inches. While this looks good, it has been wearing the insides of my front tires at 10 times the normal rate of the outside! So I have 3/4 inch of tread on the outside and I'm down to the steel wires on the inside. Any help? I want to keep the ride height like it is but the camber MUST change. I've heard of shims, strut spacers, grinding slots in the strut towers, etc or I can jus revert back to stock and ride with the front jacked higher than the rear. I don't have the $$$ for quality lowering springs. Any suggestions on past experiences guys? Any help would be apprec…

I'm replacing my struts/springs with Tokico's. Shock boots didn't come on the 240's. Would you put shock boots on to keep the dirt, etc out? I'm not concerned about the STOCK condition, since I have more than five modifications so I can't compete in the stock class. Thanks Keith............

Hello everyone. How do I know if the R200 I just got, is good or not? It is from a car that sat for 20 years and only has 36,000 miles on it. Let me know, thanks. Rick.
