Hello, two weeks ago I bought a 5 speed which I was told was a 280z 5 speed but the bell housing is diiferent than the bell housing on my 4 speed(the gear casing and bell housing are one piece ont the 5 speed). They told me that the bell housings were interchangable. Well, today i tried to change them out ,but had no luck it seems the selector rods are a diiferent dia. and will not fit the gear box casing from the 4 speed .What's going on? Do I have the wrong tranny? My friend says it's a truck tranny. Can I still use it?

I know there is about a $200 difference between a reg. tokico gas shock vs. the 5 way adjustable. I know the major difference between them are that, with the 5 way you can make it soft to stiff, but lets say if the 5 way is adjusted to the stiffest , how much stiffer is it then compared to the reg. gas tokico? other than the stiffnest? what other difference are there? because if the only difference are that you are able to adjust with the 5 way, I would just save my money and get the reg. gas shocks, give me some advises guys, I need to finish my car before MSA autocross. thanks ~K

Spent an enjoyable weekend working on the Z, well sort of, enjoyable in that it was finally warm enough to pick up a wrench and not have it stick to your hand!!! I had read that you could change the rear springs with out pulling the lower pin by pulling the shock bolt and lowering the a-arm and by using the same method to compress the new spring during the install. Sounded easy and looking at it, a real good possibility that it would work. So after a long day of finishing my 4 wheel disk conversion (280ZX front and rears, another whole story) and maybe too many refreshment breaks inbetween I decided to have a go at a spring starting around 6 PM. Well I start by pulling…

I have a 1972 stock differential that needs a rebuild (shim) kit. I called the local Nissan dealership, motorsport, z-barn, and other local parts store without success. Any ideas?

Howdy guys, I'm ready to buy a set of beefy sway bars, only have the front stock on my 72.... I am interested only in getting a rear sway bar that mounts to the suspension, that doesn't require any holes to be drilled in the chassis....heh, my car has enough rust holes in it already! Do the MSA sway bars come like this? Any help would rock, thanks guys. --dog

The passenger side front tire appears to be too far forward. There is about a 3" gap between the body and the back of the tire, but only a 1" gap betwen the front of the tire and the body. The driver's side tire is perfectly centered. Due to this, the car pulls really hard to the left. (cuz the passenger side tire is too far forward) Is this just a simple problem that an alignment job would take care of? Or do I have to do something else? I haven't taken the time to go through everything yet, and I don't really know much about aligning the front end. But I know enough to get the work done if you know what might be wrong. Any suggestions?

Recently, I'm hearing a creaking sound when I let off the gas pedal on my '74 260Z. Not being real savvy about the drivetrain in general, it sounds like it is either coming from the drivetrain or maybe from the rear struts; it's virtually impossible to tell where it's coming from. It starts as a very sharp metallic creak when the Z is cold, but as I drive it, the creaking gets less noticeable. Any ideas?

Howdy all, I have a 1972 240z and the diff whines like hell from 45 to 65 mph which I am assuming is wear in the gear set rather than bearings. The car has 90k original miles from what I can tell. Any thoughts - I don't see many people posting about diff noise. I have a spare diff out of a 72 240 - is there anyway of assessing its condition without doing a full tear down? I also have a couple of R-200 diffs but not the 280z moustache bar so will probably leave those for now. In New Zealand getting a 280z moustache bar is a mission. Just out of interest does anyone know what ratio a diff out of a 280zx with the L20a motor would be? Cheers Glenn

I have an aftermarket front sway bar with a universal slotted bracket. Does anyone make a bracket that mimics stock but for an oversize swaybar?

Hi all, Ok so I've got a newer Nismo LSD for an R180 rear end. I say newer because it's intended for a circlip-type halfshaft, not the bolt-through half-shafts which are standard on my 240. So which car should I source the proper shafts from? Thanks, -e
