Has anyone ever heard of a company called Top end performance out in Hollywood? They offer a complete suspension kit for under a grand that includes: springs, bushings, swaybars and the strut inserts. They said that it drastically improves handling over stock, but if it's junk I would prefer to go elsewhere to get my suspension components. So if anyone has any comments good or bad about them please give me a heads up on your experience with TEP. Thanks TIM http://www.racetep.com/

OK, On my daily driver '81 280zx I recently removed just the belt to see what driving w/o power steering was like compared to my 240z. Turns out it turns better than the '72 240! It may be due to the reciculating ball vs. rack n' pinion or the 300lb + I've probably removed from the ZX but it was a pleasant surprise that only when turning sharply or at a standstill was two hands ever really needed. My question is, is the ease of steering due to hydraulic fluid still being churned when I manually turn and will I tell a notciable difference (easier or harder) in steering if I completely removed the pump/brackets/hoses/etc so rid of more excess weight. I dunno who out the…

I need to know which transmission the early 90's 300zxs used in the IMSA race circuit when they were mated to the Q45 V8, after the TT was outlawed. Can anyone answer that question, or point me in the right direction?

Ok its not a r200, but i have a question about a H190. How can I check if its an LSD Diff? The engine doesn't run, and you can spin one wheel freely with one wheel jacked off the ground. But that might just mean the clutches are worn, right? I read on the net that the H190 LSD came out of this model car (1984 Nissan Cedric (280C). but maybe they had open center diffs too. How easy is it to pull the diff center from the banjo housing?

Hi all, I try to change my driver side steering rack bushing to an urethan one from G-Machine. I'm successless. Whatever I try, at the cut i have a gap of about 1,5 cm. Has the cut-side to be upside or downside? Thanks for your help Rolf

Lightening of my '81 280zx has gone from small things to hard-core stripped race car. I've removed the front bumper, entire A/C system, all carpet, jute, all interior plastic panels, and muffler. Now comes the power sterring. First, has anyone ever done this? Will it have the heavy feel of my old 240z? Is it worth the effort and weight savings, not to mention engine drag? Any insight would help. Thanks

Does this look like the kind of sway bar for a 240Z that does NOT require drilling the chassis to mount?

Hello, I have gotten back into Z's after a 25 year absence. Back then there was nothing like this forum so I am very thankful for this as well as the other forums and I look forward to your input. I am refreshing an early 260Z. She is up on jackstands now and probably will be for another year or so. I paid $250.00 for the car and have decided to take her down all the way. I do not have much history as the PO died 2 years ago and the car sat. I will be putting a 5 spd in and after going through the posts it seems that a 3.9 R200 would be the best choice for gearing. This will not be a daily driver but my speed days are over. So to my question, if you had the choice…

Gday you lot. I am going to check out a rusty grs30 in the next few days with the hope that it will be a gearbox donor for my project. I have not seen the car yet but the owner tells me that it has an L28 and a 5 speed. He said that another prospective buyer looked at the car after turning the crank manually he told him that the gearbox was from a 240K not a 260z. I have two questions. 1. How can I identify the type of gearbox fitted to the car. 2. Is there anything wrong with a 240K box, I work with an older ex mechanic who did a ton of 240z/k 5speed conversions in the 80's. He believes that the K box is actually stronger. I have no idea and would appreciate any …

On the 1978 280Z, I would like to know where the kickdown solenoid is on the automatic trans. The Haynes book says you can unscrew it and replace if it doesn't work. thx.

Im tryin to figure out which year/car had r200 with 12mm riing bolts and 30spline outputs. And wat ratios they were. I believe i have a 3.90 rear end but am not sure becuzz the swap was done buy the owner b4 the guy i bought it from. It definately has shotter gears than my 78 280. both has the 4spd. And i know that the original r200 was a 3.535.
