I'm rebuilding the front strut assy. And was wondering about the dust shields. I am doing the Toyota caliper swap so I have to cut them anyway. I was contemplating not putting the dustshield back on. Now, I know that they are there to prevent dirt, water and other debree from coming into contact with the rotor but is there any other reason to keep the dust shield? Any opinions?

Hi all, I'm about to begin the process of swapping out the automatic tranny in my 72 240Z with a 5 speed unit from an 82 N/A 280ZX. I'll be keeping the 3:54 rear end in my Z. Since the tranny will be out I'm considering lightening the flywheel. I've thought about an aluminum one but I think that may be too light and am concerned about the longevity and reliability of it. Does anyone have any suggestions about how much weight can be safetly removed from the stock flywheel. The car will be used as a daily driver with a good amount of spirited driving. I commute daily 100 miles with a good portion of that commute in twisty hilly areas (fun!!!!!) the majority of the com…

Hello, I am seeking some help please. First some background: I am restoring a 1971 Triumph TR6. The differential is shot and I was able to get hold of a 280zx manufactured in October of 1980 for free. I have taken all the rear suspension apart and so far I am going to use the differential out of the 280ZX and make the necessary adaptors to make it work in the TR6. I have access to a machine shop, so the manufacture of parts will be no problem. The TR6 has a independent rear suspension and so far, I see no problems as to making this all work. HOWEVER, I have been doing research and so far I am very confused as to what differential I am looking at. From what I gather …

Do the springs get shorter after 100k+ miles? On my 280Z, the front is 1 or 2 inches higher than the back, so I started wondering. If I knew the length of the stock springs, I could measure it. Otherwise, I assume a new set of springs should even the height out. I did take off the a/c pump. thx.

I'm repacking the rear wheel bearings. I noticed that the inside bearing is just a regular bearing and should repack fine after I wash it. But my question is about the outer bearing, I noticed that the outside of the bearing is sealed, how do I clean and repack this bearing without destroying the seal?

Help please. I have a 72 and it just started making a strange sound when i turn the wheel at a stand still. I seems to be coming from the front end somewhere near the wheel. It kinda sounds like rubber rubbing, almost like when you turn a wheel on a painted surface or in a parking structure. Thanks for any help.

Im a bit desperate to get my car back together, I've just pulled the Gbox removed the clutch from the flywheel to inspect the brand. It's a RPM clutch dunno if anyone outside Australia know's the brand it's by PBR I think. Anyway it held up pretty well till it got worn down and I was gonna directly replace it but I can get an entire kit of the same brand for $200 at trade discount. My problem is I have been told I will need to machine the flywheel and replace a bearing that's either in the flywheel or the actual end of the crank shaft. I've never seen this bearing before has anyone here? Also is this true do I need to machine it if I don't will it make the clutch wear …
