Hey Everyone! I am so excited because I finally got rid of that damn clunk in my rear end!! I had already changed bushings/ujoints/struts/etc a year ago but it was still there and got louder as time went by. I bought a new diff from an 89 300ZX and put that in last night and WOW!! what a difference. It is soooo much quieter now!! I havent taken the cover off of the old one yet to see what was wrong but something was worn inside. Just wanted to share my excitement. Have a good one! ROOPZ

I have been trying to identify the 5spd transmission in my 73 240Z (originally a 4 spd). It was installed 16years ago and I cannot remember what car it came from. I have read about the trans types, all of which have codes beginning with F. I have also read many threads, including one which said that there are no stampings which mean anything. However, my 5spd has this number stamped on the top of the bellhousing -T7Y09774. What, if anything does it mean? In tryng to ID the tranny, this may help. Since I never changed the speedo gear, every since the swap, my speedo reads more than 10mph off, too low, in top, now 5th, gear. Thanks.

Just about to do a spring change on a Stock 240Z (European car) in favour of new shortened, firmer springs and am checking the lengths, the ones I have been supplied are different lengths front to back, 11 inch long back, 9.5 inch long front but the Haynes manual says they should be pretty much the same length ??? Is the Haynes book up to its usual tricks again? Any one happen to have some dimensions as a guide line as I am just about to start dismantling and don’t want to get all the way there and find something is wrong.

Hello again still in the process of putting on my struts. I have taken out my old struts and put in the new ones however these new tokico's have some play up and down in the cartridge. I was wondering if this was normal. The old struts seem to have a longer base then the new ones. Is this okay? Frankenstein Z PS Putting oil in the cartridge, nothing in any of the books I have about it but most everybody on here says its needed, whats the verdict.

I HAVE READ A COUPLE OTHER POSTS AND FOUND THAT THEY CAN BE A LITTLE DIFFICULT. I HEAR THERE IS A SPECIAL TOOL FOR JUST THIS. ANYBODY KNOW WHAT ITS CALLED. HAPPY HOLIDAYS FRANKENSTEIN Z

I recently noticed that one of the rear wheels on my '72 240 was cambered in. I took the car to have the alignment looked at but there was no adjustment to be made. My only thought is that maybe it's time to replace the coil springs. I haven't really looked at them that hard, and the car didn't look as though it was sitting lower, but I don't know what else would cause this. I couldn't find anything broken, and the bushings are all new on the back end. Any ideas would be helpful.

If I change this, should the gear stick vibrate less? It makes an anoying sound at the moment. The sound goes when I hold the stick. I cant say it vibrates alot but enough to make a high pitch annoying sound. Thanks.

Anyone found the supplied shifter sits too far towards the front of the car? it seems a bit of a stretch to change gears. will heating and bending it cause the metal to weaken too much?
