Do any of the vendors sell a coil over setup which already includes shortened strut tubes etc. I have seen plenty of kits. I would like to keep my current tubes intact for future reference.

Every Z I have ever torn apart had a tranny X member that looked like this--even the 240's, but I have never been under anything older than 72. It has bushings and when you order the 280 bushing master kit from Suspenion Technics, it comes with these bushings. I was going through my 240 master kit and it has no bushings. My mechanic showed me what a 240 Xmember is supposed to look like and it was completely different--and required no bushings. When did it change? Sorry I don't have a photo of the 'supposed' 240 one, but it is completely different. steve77

Hello all! Just got home my new (to me) 73 yesterday! Woo hoo! While ensuring the car secure on the trailer I noticed something odd. It appears that the drivers side control arm was upside down! I am assuming that at some point it needed to be replaced and was either done wrong or a passenger side (right) control arm was substituted in it's place. My question is this: Are the rear control arms assymetrical? Could it be the correct arm, just upside down... or is it a unit from the opposite side? I will be going through the car soon to restore it so replacing, or correcting, will be no problem. Any info would be appreciated here... thanks! Keith

Can someone tell me where a picture of a rear-oriented aftermarket rear sway bar is that shows the end links? I just put one in this 73 and have clearance problems. I can't figure out which way it should be installed to clear the halfshafts. steve77

Hello Everyone! I am looking for an R200 from the 88-89 300ZXT. I think I have found one at a salvage yard 2 hours away. He says he has one anyway. My question is: How can I be certain this is an LSD short of opening it up? Is there any markings etc that would identify it? And is 250 a good price for such an item? Roopz

I don't know how many of you'all are on the 240z.org mail list, but this message came though today and I feel it is important enough to pass on. Message: 3 Date: Sun, 09 Nov 2003 11:27:04 -0800 From: Alex F To: 240Z Mailing List <list@240z.org> Subject: [240z.org] T/C Rod breaking/failure A local Z buddy (afshin) had a TC rod failure this weekend, and this brought into the light possibilities of TC rod failure due to use of the PU bushings. Carrman posted a good read on how to prevent this failure, which was snipped from the dime quarterly list: http://www.hybridz.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=27871 I think I'll either switch to drill out the PU bushings to give mo…

On my 73 240 with 200k+ miles I still have the stock 4 speed. The second gear synchro is a bit worn and for the first few 1-2 shifts when cold I can feel the gears hitting a bit before they engage. I recently replaced the gear oil and things got better, but it's still noticeable. Once warm, the issue goes away. So my question is if it is better to shift slowly so that the revs can fall on their own and put less stress on the synchro, or shift faster so there is less slippage with the synchro? Hope this isn't too philosophical... :stupid:

One of our fellow rallyists is searching for a 1st Gear for an option 1 Gearbox. Willing to either buy outright or swap for one from an option 2. I don't have the book with me at present, however I thought all 1st gear ratios where the same in these boxes, with the 2, 3,and 4 beigh the variables? Can someone set me straight on this before I leave for home tonight? MOM

I need to purchase some new shock for my 71 Zed. I hear good comments always on Tokico and Koni, is there another brand that won't break the budget and are good value for money. I just want a nice ride without my current 3 bounces in the front end.... thanks 2manyzeds!

Thought it would come under this section doesnt really fit into body and paint or Engine or Electrical Anyway.. my subframe on the newer 81 ZX is all bent squashed from where people have had narrow jacks etc... its even rusted through on the left hand side firewall where the subframe angles down slightly also i noticed today (my fault ) i jacked up the rear left hand side too check the pads where i jacked it up on the rear suspension mount too the floor pan that pushed up with the weight of the car so how would i fix that ? Or is this even worth fixing ?
