Hi Guys, Recently purchased a t-5 out of an 84 zx and wanted to open it up to check syncros, gears etc. The reverse gear has some damage to it (pic of gear in gallery) Does this damage warrent replacement of gear? Are the gears available? Both reverse and idler? I've removed tailshaft housing, will the gear set pull straight out from here or do I need to remove the cover plate from the front of the tranny? Or anything else ie set screw or something. My manuals have nothing indepth on trannies. Thanks in advance Dave

Hi all, Where can I find Moog suspension parts (cheap?), especially ball joints and tie rod ends for 70-73 240Z? I have much doubts about the quality of those Taiwan-made ones. Heck, I even managed to break an impact wrench socket adapter 1/2"->3/8" when using it with a 1/2" non-impact rachet. Regards, Wilbur

Just gotta love Salvage Yards. I just picked up a 3.54:1 diff, And all four strut housings in great shape for $260. Now the wife will stop whining about the harsh ride from the coil-overs....seemed like a good thing to do at the time but now that she is pregnant with our first little one I no longer have the time to race. Sooooo, we are putting oem length struts back in with tokiko blue shocks and some older mullholland springs I have had laying around for years. Back to being a daily driver instead of a track car.

WEll, after a long project (since end of June) I finished off the suspension restoration last week-end. Took it over to a shop and had an alignment done. Before we get into the issues, here's a recap of what I did: 1) removed and sand blasted the entire suspension 2) painted everything with POR-15 and a top coat of Chasis Black. 3) installed all new OEM rubber bushings. 4) installed NOS Stage I Euro Springs. 5) reinstalled Tokicko Gas shocks. 6) installed new tie rods, and ball joints 7) lots of new brake lines, nuts, bolts and basically everything I could to make it look and work like new again. Oh, and this is a 1970 model, all stock everything, for show. I haven't r…

My 280Z siiits a little low in the back compared to the front. I did take the a/c pump off, but I don't think it would make the front come up an inch or so. How would you know if the rear springs are bad or weak? Could there be another reason the front is higher? thx.

Hi all- I have a ZX five speed in my '72. I rebuilt it about 1,500 miles ago, and have been having trouble with the counterhold nut - the nut behind the 5/R gearset. Picture of the loose nut behind the wheel Can anyone tell me what the clearance is supposed to be? The first time, the nut came loose, the second time, it was too tight, the third time it was too loose, and the fourth time (currently) I think it's a bit too tight. I set the clearance between the nut and the 5/R thrust washer to .015. I think it's still to tight, as once in a while it will not want to shift in…
