I've got my 260z on stands and have undone most of the bolts... How do my new poly front control arm bushes go in..?? Is there any benifit to put them in back to front..ie to increase caster/camber etc?????? It looks lkike the "thicker" side goes to the back...but again, is it worthwhile puitting them in backwards??? any ideas ???

Ordered a set Tokico non-adjustables for the car I am building. Got them today from the same company I ordered the last set from (autocarparts.com). The fronts are fine. It is the rears that have me concerned. Both boxes say '3106', but the contents are different. One is the standard 3016 cartridge. First of all, it has a new sticker on it that says '3016'. It is a front--with an extension. The cartridge body is about 2" shorter and it has a piece of pipe pressed onto the lower seat to make up the difference. So, resting on the ground, both cartridge BODIES are exactly the same length. But, at full extension, the rod on the altered strut is 3/4 of an inch longer. …

I need to replace the automatic transmission and differential in my 260z. I want to stay with an automatic. How do I figure out what is in the car now? Do I need to stay with what it has? Or is there an optimal combination that will be a direct bolt in?

hello, my '72 240z has made weird knocking noise from the rear left seems like forever now. i finally got around to taking the wheel off today and saw that the half-shaft is pretty much lose as it connects with the wheel. I could disconnect it with my bare hands. The right side is the complete opposite and very tight. What's there to hold that shaft to the wheel ? I couldn't find any nuts or bolts. Nor have i found a diagram that would explain this to me. I'd like to fix this, just don't know how. thank you for any info. slav.

I am about to buy a used 73 240Z in good shape. Has all history and comes with a parts car. It seems that the front frame rails could be rusty. I need to know how hard/expensive it is to have these repaced. Is $ 3000 CAD reasonable for this car/ It has a motor that has been rebuilt proffesionaly a few years ago, mild cam, paint was profesionaly re-done afew years ago and now has some rust showing, and some minor dents and scratches. much of the interior is rough, dash has one crack all guages work well, good rubber and nice mags, reupholstered seats(cloth). Parts car has good motor etc but hit hard in front, factory roll bar. Both have sun roof in them. does this devalue …

Quick question about installing a R200 in a 240z. Has anyone attempted to install the R200 out of a Z32 or even R32 Skyline? I realise the diffs are different and wont be an easy bolt in job. If anyone has attempted this, I'd be interested in knowing if its worth doing or not, and what needs to be done. I've already fitted the R200 into the 240z (out of my 260z) but it's not LSD. Finding an R200 lsd from a Z31 is difficult and expensive in Aus. I had a quick bowse through the forums to find what I was after but had no luck; if there is already a post on this, I apologise. Thanks guys. Marc.

Hey there guys, I'm sorry I know this is somewhat repeating but I tried a few searches and browsed a few titles and couldn't find what I read a while ago in regards to 5Spd boxes. I'm looking at getting a 5Spd for my 240K, because let's face it, it's not really driving if you're not changing the gears yourself. The guy I bought the car from has one that he was going to use to convert, he's told me it's out of a L28ET DR30, and from what I remember of his descriptions when I was getting the car is it's a good box and so he wants a bit for it, it's the type where 1st gear and reverse are on the same branch, I have no idea what to call the box, or if it has a specific name, …

While looking for Suby LSD's at the junkyard, the owner mentioned, "Why don't you put a Corvette rear end in it? I've seen a couple Z's like that. It's quite a bit lighter." I didn't ask for proof, just kindof 'filed' the info and moved on. I have never seen such a transplant. Perhaps this is a common mod on V8 Z's? Has anyone seen or done a Corvette diffy install? steve77

Heres a pic of my (RHD passenger) Left side suspesion strut. Its not supposed to be unscrewed like that is it. The other side is done up so you cant see any threads. Would this cause excessive negative camber? The front left had excessive negative camber compared to the right, Also I think the metal washer was missing of the back of the (damn whats that rod thing called that sitcks out from the frame rail to the lower controll arm not the sway bar the other one) bush.

Hey there! I have a 1976 280z and I had the U-joints on the outer ends of the halfshafts replaced a year and a half ago, and one day a few months ago, I was coming off of a huge on ramp into freeway traffic, and I was really gunning it. I heard a large clang and clunk from the rear. I thought it was a rock coming dislodged from a tire in the rear. Later on, I found out that the noise I heard was the U-joint basically exploding under the pressure/ centrifical force. I got it fixed though, so no worries, but I was amased after the fact how close I was to disaster. I can only imagine what kind of damage the halfshaft could do whirling around in the wheel well. BTW, I also ha…
