I'm tearing down the rear wheel setups for sandblasting and painting (they're already removed from the control arms and springs). I've got the brakes out and the halfshaft flange off, but I can't knock the hub out of the assembly (I'm going off a Z restoration book). Is there anything left that needs to be unbolted before the hub will knock out or do I need a heavier hammer?

I have installed KYB's with 2 inch lowered springs in my 260. The ride is firmer and looks much nicer, however I would like less body roll in corners. I want the car to stay fairly level during hard cornering. As i understand it I can change to a thicker stronger sway bar to get less body roll. Is this correct? I have seen bars installed across the top of front and rear strutt towers. How effective is this? Waiting for recommendations fellas?

Attempting to diagnose this for a friend before it is purchased. When I accelerate, I hear a squeeking sound from under the car, possibly back by the rear end or the drive shaft. If I coast, no squeek. It seems to do it in all gears (although I cannot really hear it when I am going faster because the ground noise and car noise). The squeek is quiet pronounced and gets more steady as I go faster until I cannot hear it. I looked underneath but cannot tell much there.

It's a 11/71 Z with the original 4 speed. Very difficult to get into reverse with the engine running (grinds) but goes in fine with it off. Goes in once in awhile. Down shifting into the forward gears is no problem although going into 1 isn't always smooth. I want to keep the car a 4 speed. Rebuild this one? Get a junkyard special and hope for the best? Future problems with other gears as the problem worsens? Slave cylinder? Fluid level o.k. In the Portland, OR area is there a shop that will do a good rebuild on this tranny? Thanks

I remember seeing a link discribing how to convert a 1987-89 300ZX turbo LSD ( using parts off of a 280Z R200 ext) so as to fit it in a 240Z. I can't seem to find it under the search. I've only seen links showing pics of the LSD. I already have an R200 3.9 diff, but might be able to get my hands on the cluth type 300Z LSD. If someone knows of a link with pictures, DIRECTIONS ect., could that someone post it for me thanks.

My 71 240 has front and rear sway bars. Were these standard on the early models. Also, how do you tell the difference between a R180 and a R200 by looking at the rear face plate???? Mine clunks a bit, wonder what is causing that?

Ok, I was looking at the underside of the zed today ( as I do most days :stupid: ) and was looking at the upper rear control arm bush mounts, the ones that hold the bush/control arm captive. It is a sandwich between the diff mount and the underbody if you get what im talking about. Anyhow, the circular cutout in both the underbody and diff mount is nice and smooth and this got me wondering if this needs to be. Do the bushes need a smooth mounting, do they need to be able to freely rotate? I amp repainting the underside of the car soon with brush on POR-15 and sound deadener and this will not provide the smoothest surface, even if i dont use the sound deadener on this poin…

Hi guys recently my car has been seeming like it's not going anywhere when I hit the gas. It took me a while to come up with what I believe is the reason why and a friend helped me confirm that it's the most likely conclusion. I believe the clutch is slipping because it seems fine on take off but when i down gear or up gear I sometimes get alot of revving but no going . I'm pretty sure it's an aftermarket clutch in there but not sure how long it's been there or what brand it is. I'm wondering what you guys would recommend for a Z with ~200hp or less. I know that the stock ones are bad for launching the car not that i do that often but every so often I do like to give…

Hi Everyone: I'm getting ready to install a rebuilt L24 in my car and I'd like to get your ideas on whether I should used a stock Nissan OEM clutch assembly or should I go with a Centerforce I assembly. The car will be a street only car, but will see some "spirited" driving. Does anyone use the Centerforce I setup, and how do you like it? Is it significantly better than the stock OEM assembly? Thanks in advance for any information you care to share on this. Thank you, Carl
