I think I still have the factory U-Joints in my shafts because there are no circle clips to remove, in fact several of the u-joints are flush with the axle casing. Were the original U-joints pressed in? Or am I going to have to take a 50-50 shot at pressing them out the right way? The end caps have "Toyo" logo on them, if that helps.

Hey guys; I have got a 700R4 in my 72Z and I am wondering if anyone can tell me the approiate angles for the driveshaft. Right now the tailshaft of the trans is about a 1/2 inch to the drivers side of the input shaft of the rear diff and about an inch higher. Thanks Peter:devious:

I'm going to do a swap to 4-piston brake calipers from an 82 Toyota 4wd Pickup truck. I'm going to buy the calipers new, from Advance Auto for $30.00 each. I was wondering, most of the websites I'v seen say to try and get calipers that are already assembled so I can see how the pads and everything go together. Since I'm not going to be able to do this I was wondering if someone out there could help me as to how they will need to go together and what all other parts I will need to assemble them (springs, spacers, shims, pads, those type of things). Also, where can I get a pair of front steel braided brake lines? I just want the pair for the front, because I plan on swappi…

Keith, you once replied to a query of mine with a 'easier-to-count' diffy table with 10/x output/driveshaft numbers. Now I have searched and can not find it. I have a 10/17.75 R200 I just found in the back of this '73 I am stripping. Can you repost the numbers? steve77

Hey all, hows everyone? I'm doing good, except my 72 240 4speed has been sitting about 2 months....I know that the clutch isn't 100% perfect, and I've been meaning to replace it (i have a new one in the box, waiting for a 5 speed to come in the mail...) Anyways, I went out to drive it around the block as normally I do, Just haven't lately (in 2 mo) because the carbs need to be synchro'd and I'm lazy... anyways, the clutch is what seems to be completely disengaged. I can shift into any gear and it appears to be in neutral, or with the clutch pedal pushed all the way in. The slave / braided cable / master for the clutch has all been replaced within last year, and when you…

Is the swaybar stud supposed to be much smaller that the hole in the end of the swaybar? I attached a picture, it looks like it must be missing something to keep it from moving around.

Alright looked through the forums and couldn't find much. My steering wheel shakes. It shakes when I am driving regularly at pretty much any speed, and it goes crazy when I am braking, (especially down from 110)ahahah. Well anyways it shakes horrible when I am braking. I know the first thing is the alignment but this almost seems like something is loose in the front end. Any ideas? Frankenstein Z

Can some one tell me the relevance of this?.......... Enclosed in this '73 I am building was this huge stack of registration papers and service receipts. It was serviced by one of our local Z shops. Receipt dated 12/23/94 (in addition to brakes, t/c rod bushings, tires, etc.): "Front Wheel Alignment: $50. NOTE: Crossmember is damaged, and car has been lowered. Alignment is not within spec. Customer refused work at this time. Toe-in 1/8 Camber left -1 right -1/4 Caster 3 1/4" Can someone translate this into driveablility for me? Is this serious? I have the engine out and really can't see any major deformations of the Xmember. It has a couple dents like someone r…
