Hi Well as you know my 240K is auto (:dead:) and I've been looking to swap it over but have to get my hands on a good box first (gearbox). I've had an offer from a guy with a Bluebird 5 Speed, from what I know it will fit onto the L24 engine, but does anyone know if it will be the right length etc. for the stick to poke out of the right bit inside my car? Or should I just keep waiting for a real 240K box :disappoin

Does anyone know the correct way to measure toe-in, without going to an alignment shop ? The manual lists the toe-in for a 72 240Z as 1.59-5.56mm. Is that measured from the leading edge of the tire to the trailing edge, measured at the center height, or is it from the leading edge of the tire to the center of the wheel ? One would result in twice the toe-in as the other.

Hi all, Well, I may have found a '72 240Z to replace my dearly departed one. It's still very tentative at this point. The only real problem with the potential car is that it has an automatic. I still have the carcas of my old 240Z and the engine,4-speed, drive-line, and clutch related stuff are still available and healthy. My question is, how involved is it to convert from an automatic to a 4-speed. I would need to have a mechanic do the job, because of my lack of talent, tools, and time. Any idea how much something like this would cost. I think I have everything needed parts-wise to do this conversion, my cost would be wrapped up in labor. Has anyone else done this c…

Hello everyone! I'm thinking about coil overs, but have no clue.... Since it is cartridges all the way around, do you convert to macpherson struts at all 4 corners? ie. get front strut cartridges, and cut the outer strut housing and weld the coil overs? I'm under the impression that the chapman struts on the rear don't have cartridges.... Any help before considering getting coil overs would be great! 10/71 240z (1972) stock. 2 door

Long story short I installed new lower ball joints about 6 months ago and about a 2 weeks ago I installed new tie rod ends. Now both have grease nipples but when I installed them I didn't grease them up as I assumed stupidly that they were pre greased. Driving home last night I heard that same noise I was hearing when I had to replace my tie rods. It's a creaky noise when u move the steering wheel especially when the car is stopped or moving slow. Tonight I greased them up with the grease gun but my grease gun won't fit under the ball joints so I have to get another. I can still hear that noise I would have only driven 80miles and most of it would have been straight drivi…

I have a 1972 240Z. I have owned it two weeks. It steers like it has notches in the steering. How can I describe this? When I drive the car in corners, it steers OK, then it suddenly wants to jerk out of my hands. It does not want to return to center at all. Is this normal in a car with rack and pinion and no power steering? Or.......could it be a bad rack and pinion unit? Thank you.

As mine is a 260z, i always assumed it had an R200 but a recent R180 to R200 comparison photo i found led me to think mine looks more like a R180. Any experts can resolve this by spot inspection?

Just got my 240 back from the shop with the Tokico's and Hyperthane Bushings I imported from the US. Awesome ride!! For the information of my fellow Aussies - it was actually cheaper to get the stuff sent over from the US than to buy stuff of inferior quality here and the way the exchange rate is heading it's going to get better!!! For those that are going see you at the Sydney Z Club meeting tomorrow.
