Well I just put Tokico Illumina and springs in. What a pain in the arse. It took me over six hours, plus a drive to napa to get a new brake line(don't ask). All in all I'm very happy with the results but I'm still pissed that I got brake fluid all over me. It friggin turned my coveralls white. For future referance is there a easy way to change them? I took off the caliper then the brake line(it kinked when I moved it, hence the trip to napa) I then undid the control arm. Rinse&repeat four times. Then for fun I had to bleed my brakes at the end. I have decided that I have a love hate relationship with my car.

In a '70 240Z with a 4-speed the stick does not seem to move in a typical H pattern. Instead you are able to move it nearly anywhere you want to. So what's wrong and how do you fix it?

i cut this statement from ebay: You are looking at a Subaru 3.700 LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL. Donor car was a 1987 Subaru RX turbo. This part will bolt into any Subaru with a 3.700 transfer case. I've heard that all you Datsun Z-car and 510 guys like to use these as well, though I don't know how much modification is required to use this in a Datsun. Item number # 2408552558

I took a chance and bought a couple of supposedly new OEM front springs for the 240(they were advertised as for the 240 only) on Ebay, but when I measured them they were the right number of turns(10) and spring thickness, but the free length was 15.5 inches on both. The factory specs say they should be 14.1 inches on left, 15.1 inches on right. I'm a little suspicious they may be 260z springs, because 260z factory specs say 15.5 inches for both fronts. But the number of turns on the 260 springs should be 10.75 and the spring wire should be thicker. Seem to be some hybrid springs. Won't be the first time I got zapped on Ebay. Would these springs still be usable for t…

I should have heeded all of you guys' advice long ago, but the cheap-bastard in me steadfastly disagreed. Urethane bushings ROCK!!! I was in the process of changing my old rubber brake lines to braided stainless when I got to looking seriously at the 1 year old rubber bushings on my sway bars. "Man those things look like they're 20 years old!", is what came to mind. So a quick trip down to PepBoys for a set of Energy Suspension urethane end link bushings ($9.70 w/ tax) and I'm set. Keep in mind, at this same time I'm also swapping old, tired, stock springs for a set of new performance springs (bought from another z'er, so I don't remember the brand name). So now her…

Hi guys I've recently replaced the following items on my 240z. Front Control Arm Bushes. Front Ball Joints. Tie Rod Ends (Track Rod Ends) depening where your from. Now I did the others first and they were fine, but after replacing the tie rod ends the car pulls to the left really badly. I'm pretty sure the car hasn't been in a bad enough accident to make alignment really bad and before i replaced them it used to only pull a little to the left. By that I mean if I drove straight let go of the wheel it would slowly vear to the left hand side. Passenger side for us HS30 Owners.(Right hand drive). I'm almost 100% sure I put it all back together correct and I tried to make sur…

I've researched this site but could find no consensus on adding oil to the strut housing when you put in new strut cartridges. Any opinions or facts? If oil is added, what weight and how much? KYB instructions just said to empty the oil out of the strut. Thanks, Victor.

Just got done installing my new springs, once I lowered the car back to the ground I looked under the wing and noticed this: I plan on calling Tokico and MSA tomorrow to ask about this, but has anyone else encountered this? does it do bad things to the car? BTW the ride height looks pretty good:

would putting 240 or 260 strut housings with coiler overs on a 280 give it more suspension traval? or is the only way to go: is to shorten my strut housings?

The instructions for the KYB strut cartridge boots mention something about whether to put the plastic cinch clamp on the bottom of the boot or not(something about if the piston rod rotates with a bearing do clamp the boot with the tie, blah blah). I don't really understand the logic of their instructions. So, to make it simple, do you use the plastic cinch clamp on the base of all four boots of a 240z or what? Thanks, Victor.

I've seen some five lug Zs around the gallery. Is there a 5-lug conversion I don't know about? Or are they custom jobs. I used the search function and found nothing.

Does anyone know if a 5-speed transmission from a Datsun 2000 Roadster would fit a '71' 240? I know a 5-speed was available back in '71' when I bought my 240.
