Well I just put some brand new tires on. They rub in the back. They are 215/60/14. Is it just me or does it seem insane that they would rub? Should I send them back? I heard that you could do something with the wheel well to give some extra space. It involves bending the lip back. Any ideas? So much for getting the Tokico struts ect. that would lower it an inch and I don't have an inch. Why does this $^!# always happen to me?

i have recently been looking at http://www.geocities.com/zgarage2001/ratios.gif trying to decide which ratio I should change my 3.36's to in my 240z. I have a 280a 5speed tranny right now. I am confused, because the website says that I should have longer gears than the 4 speed, meaning that I should be able to hit a higher speed in each gear. My buddy with an l24 and stock 4 speed can hit a cool 60+ in second. I can only hit around 48 - 49 in second. I definately have an r180 and I am almost sure its 3.36. It makes no sense to me why this is the way it is. Any advice? Am I misreading? I have a 3.90 r200 in my garage that is super clean. How does this match up to the earl…

I got replacement bushings for everything. They come in a kit by Energy Suspension. I bought them from Courtesy Nissan in Texas. Their service was excellent.

What are the models of performance suspension, i could put on a 260Z 2+2, because i see the tokico illumina didn't exist for 2+2. Is there a big difference between 240z, 260z and 260z 2+2 shocks??? probably the load, but with adjustable shocks you can adjust it! please give me your personnal test and experiment about the best shocks for dealy use and road rally! Have been thrashing my 72 v8 z around town a bit shaking the bugs out and yesterday I took it on its first freeway trip... the engine is a 350 chevy, the tranny is a th-350 and the tires are 225/70/14 and i used the msa speedo cable. When at about 60 mph it says 90 mph. hahaha now what I know there is a gear somewhere to replace with a different one, where does it go and how do i know what gear to buy Thanks, bob in ca with (as of yesterday) a registered and insured and running (hauls arse) v8 z...hahahahahaha :classic:

Question about towing 72 240Z? Any special considerations for towing via a tow dolly? Front wheels suspended, back wheels on the ground. Is it necessary to remove driveshafts? Thanks! Steve

74 260 new tie rod ends and rack mounting bushings but still a reasonable amount of play in steering. rubber coupling seems ok. Has anyone had luck with tightening the retainer adjusting nut on the rack itself. Any suggestions to remove play or "dead zone" from steering? Thanks

This '73 I am thinking about keeping has a rear-orineted sway bar mounted on the rear. Looks like it has been there about 30n years. It also has the brackiets for a front-oriented rear sway bar welded to the frame. They are identical to the brackets on a 280Z--socket on one side and thread on the other that holds a flat peice of metal that holds the bushing in. There is no sway bar installed in the front-oriented position--just the empty brackets. The rear-oriented one is installed on the mustache bar/rear diffy cross member as you see quite a few 240's.... A. Can someone explain this? B. What would be wrong with installing a stock front-oriented sway bar in the br…

I was just reading a repair guide for the 240z and learnt something i didn't know before... I just wanted to share it and maybe start a dialogue about it.. Apparently, the Left and Right suspension coil springs on the front suspension are of different length.. I had no idea. The left spring free length is: 373.5mm (22.72in) The right spring free length is: 386.0mm (23.56in) Apparently if you get the springs on the wrong way round it can have an adverse effect on your suspension geometry. I wonder how many Z's have them the wrong way round and are handling badly with their owners wondering whats causing this.. (especially after restoring their front suspension, increasing…

to replace some wheel studs that have bad threads Do you just bang them out with a Hammer or is there a better way?? I know that once I have them out you can just put the new ones in and tighten them with an impact gun, but I just did not want to mess up the part that are connected to it.

For a while I've noticed a sound comming from the rear left hand side of my Z. It's started out small and it's very hard to hear due to the loud exhaust on my car. The first noise I noticed was a scraping rubbing sound like a worn out bearing. I thought Wheel bearings but have not been driving the car last 2 weeks. Now when I get to about 50miles + and I let go of the accelerator I notice alot of vibration. I thought driveshaft with the speed and all but it seems to have become worse and if a driveshaft was unbalanced I think it would only stay the same. It seems to be constant anywhere over 50miles roughly 90km/h for the Aussies ;-). Anyway here's my thoughts on what it…
