Hi, I own a 74 260z and I have a T-5 out of a 83 280zxt, I am trying to put it in my 260 but I am un sure on the correct clutch to buy. I know that I want a centerforce clutch but do I buy the one for the 260 coupe or the one for the 280 zxt. I am keepinmg the L-26 motor for now until I get the money to switch it to a turbo mototr. Thank Let me know. Nick

i am in the process of rebuilding the front suspension and stirring. i have a couple of question. my 72z is not for race, it is for work transport. 1. which bushing is preferrable a) rubber bushing or Polyurethane. 2. original strut (hydraulic fluid) cartridge or gas cartridge. 3. original r180 rear or r200? 4. 4spd or '79 5 spd (i have both)? 5. i know a 240z is a small car, is it capable of hauling a seadoo trir? 6. original exhaust or headers? i thank you so much. hf240z@yahoo.com

What is a recommended alignment for a road raced car, that is still street driven. In other words I am not looking for -4º camber, but for someone to suggest less than -1º is ridiculous, unless for the rear. I ran -1.5º and wish I went for more, tire wear is not a problem and I dont expect it to be until I get beyond -2.0º Suggestions on what works well?

Has anyone seen plans or specs for a front or rear strut bar? I ask because by looking they seem simple but the price seem a bit high. I have access to a neigbor that builds hot rods and if I had plans I would build my own. If none are available I will eventualy build my own and post the plans to the group.

hi all, i was just at the junkyard where apparently today was "Z rear disc fiesta!" apparently... I came across 4 '79 Z's with rear disc brakes and 2 '82 Z's with rear disc brakes... From my cursory inspection it looks like the spacing for the mounting bolts of the bracket of the rear caliper to the rear hub is the same... BUT the two calipers ('79 vs '82) look very different. Does anyone here have a preference one over the other and why - yes this would be for retrofitting them to my '73 240Z... to be more specific the '79 appears to be a one piece design and it extends much deeper towards the center of the car than its '82 counterpart which has a more modern "2 pieces h…

Right front of my car has started to shake lately when driving. Sometimes I have to actually hit the brakes to get it to stop. I am having the struts replaced immediately since they obviously need it. I have already had the ball joint replaced and the tie rods (I think they are called- not a mechanic) and all the bushings look fine. Is there anything else that might cause just the right front by the wheel to shake other than these items? Hoping it is just the strut.

Spent all of last night trying to remove my tierod ends, tried everything that has worked on other cars in the past, and now I'm out of ideas. THe tierod end is gone, and I'm willing to accept that, but i would like to have the spare strut and brake assembly. Here was my plan of attack: Get loosen off castulated nuts (or whatever they are called) tap on either side to free cone shaped part. HIt a few times. Go get blow torch and heat the surrounds, tap again. Heat further and get axe (more weight than hammer) swing hard and with anger, cos your finger just got burnt on the near red hot steel. At this point the left hand side one came free, but not the right. Heat right ha…

Help!!! I think my u-joint is going out, but I'm not sure if it is that or something else. When I hit a rough spot in the road, the car almost changes lanes, it feels very unstable. Lately it has been making a noise in the back end, kind of like creaking metal, and sometimes it feels and sounds almost like I am getting a flat tire. Whoever had the car before me raised the back end, and the right front is lower than the left. Any ideas anyone? I would kind of like to know what it could be before I take it to an auto shop, I have had a couple of bad experiences with mechanics.:cry:Any help or ideas would be appriciated!! Thanks, Bonnie

Hey, I was looking for a new rear setup for my datsun, since my springs and shocks need reaplaced before long anyways. I found this setup, from Comp Eng. on the Advance Autoparts website, part number C2051, for $235. Is this a descent setup? Are there any others available that I should be looking at? What do you think about this? Thanks!

Looking for basic info on my 1983 280 ZX. It's been down for almost a year, just no time. 58,000 original miles, purchased from dealer in 2000. I'm not the mechanical type but I would appreciate any info. Thanks, Yankee Pedlar.

I have a '72 240z and the previous owner upgraded the front sway bar to a 1" Motorsport model. I just replaced the poly bushings with Motorsport poly replacements but have noticed that they keep working their way out of the bushing retention clamps. Has anyone had similar issues or are there replacement clamps for the 1" bars? My car is garaged until I can figure this out so PLEASE HELP!!!! :-)
