I seem to notice quite a bit of front end vibration on my 72 240z. Normally I would think wheels are out of balance, but usually this is only noticable high speeds, and I notice my vibration at most all speeds. I plan on eventually, when I get some more money, to replace the entire suspension. I'm wondering the way to go? I want full raceing, but still streetable suspension system. I dont care about ride confort either. I want all poly suspension bushings also. Solid where possible even, like the diff. mount. Can I get solid transmission and engine mounts also? What else would you reccomend? I want something like drag launch springs, where the weight it shifted to the rea…

Can someone breifly go through some steps please. Its my 73 240Z. Many thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hey Just today i've installed another R200 into my 76 as the last lost the holding pin and cacked itself, this new one has around 1/4 turn drive pinion slackness, and makes a loud noise when pressing the accelerator, is there any way to adjust the slackness or do i have to get another diff. And i am completly sure that it is this noise, as when i turn the shaft i hear the same noise

Can someone (anyone) please provide me with information concerning the benefits of a "solid differential mount"? My 240Z (series one model) stock rubber differential mount is in need of replacement, again! Replacing a differential mount after only serving seven months doesn't seem reasonable, or the least bit appealing. An R200 upgrade from my R180, as some have suggested, doesn't seem necessary, nor a cure (the extra weight wouldn't be welcomed either). Besides, it's not as if I ran a 300hp, L28, stroker-torquer. I favor a road-race setup so I kept the L24-E31 to maintain higher revs. and carefully trimmed fat where I could. My stiff-lowering springs, after market fi…

Back in the day, (can't believe I just said that) I took a few pictures of my rear suspension project. Removing the rear cross-member pins and bushings is the BIGGEST PAIN IN THE @#$ project ever attempted by a human. What did I end up doing? I removed the left pin easily... no big deal. The right side was a problem child. It didn't want to obey and come out of it's resting place of (oh) 30 years. It was seized. Many hours of pounding that pin (and contemplating if I should save the threads on the pin or not), I finally got it out. Pin was ruined. The stock bushings don't come out. In fact, there is an inner metal sleeve as well as an OUTER metal sleeve. What d…

My 1973 z doesn't have dust boots on the cartridges. Are they necessary? Also, the previous owner lowered the car and I noticed excessive wear on the inside of both front tires. Will a set of bump steer spacers help this situation? Thanks, Vic. tanny@frontier.net

Anyone know a good place to get some Koni strut cartriges... All I can find are Tokico's . If not, are the Tokico's as good as the Koni's?..

My rear thunks on acceleration or just going from reverse to forward. I don't drive this car roughly either. I have replaced all the bushings in the car with poly. I have new u-joints. Have taken the half shafts apart and cleaned and re-lubed the splines etc. I have a new differential mount. New shocks/springs. Every thing is new and tight except the differential itself and the strap that goes over the top. I think the Z just clunks. Good luck.

I just got my Z back after having it stored for several years. I now notice a thump in the rear end under moderate acceleration. I know the first thing that comes to mind is the insulation, and believe me I have not discounted it as the culprit. However: it seems to be fine, the u-joints in the drive shaft and axles dont have any slack either. Mustache bar bushings seem to have slight wear. My problem is that I think the slack is in the rear end diff. itself. I have never had one go bad, but it seems to have quite a bit a slack. Does anyone know how much is normal? Also does anyone know of any website that lists the gear ratio's and what year models had what rear …

Hi all, I wanted to change my moustache bar bushings to MSA's Urethane ones. I took the bar to a shop secialised on drivetrains to push the old bushings out, what they did. Back home I put the new bushings in but the didn' fit snug. Is there also an outer sleeve between the bushing and the moustache bar's "open eye" ? If yes, the shop pressed it out, too and I need a new pair. Has anyone a pair or does any one know a source or has anyone of you the exact measures of that sleeve and it's kind of metal so that I can try to find a similar tube/pipe so that iI can ask someone here to fabricate it for me. Thanks Rolf
