ITs toast!!! I looked underneath and the cable is broke at the right rear axle. Also noticed thereis nothing attached to the left rear wheel in the way of a cable/pin etc. Kinda feels like i only have front brakes as well. Wonder what kind of money i'm looking at to get rear/emer brakes back on my ride. Tony ZcarsRock!!!

Haynes book calls it a "radius rod," and doesn't discuss how to service it. Do you just unbolt it and replace the bushings, etc? I get front wheel bounce at ~32-37mph, which feels dangerous, and should be corrected. Can you do the same with the lower control arm bushings? I should do those while I'm in there.

As some of you will be aware, there are 25 Rear Sway Bars for sale from this guy: http://www.240z.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3516&highlight=sway+bar : Anyway, seeing as theyre being sold for $140 off retail price, I was just wondering how effective they are? Did 240Zs come with sway bars standard??? How much improvement can I expect with a rear sway bar but no front one? Do front sway bars cost much more/less than rear ones? Thanks for your time Ive seen some old posts about teh same topic, but I am still unclear.

I'm interested in upgrading to a 5 speed. Not that there is anything wrong with my 4 speed box. As a matter of fact, I think the 4 speed ratios fit the car rather well. But, on the Interstate, the thought of overdrive is alluring. I have some choices already. A Roadster Vendor has a 75-79 (all the same?) box. I have an extra early roadster box. T5's seem to be in every junk yard I go to. No matter which one I choose, I think it's prudent to have it rebuilt anyway. I have a reputable Datsun Transmission Specialist down here (Bill Meyers) that I'll take the tranny to before installation. Here's what I think I know. Please tell me if I'm off base or "on the mark". If you agr…

My beloved 1972 240z had rusted thru the frame rails and front rails under the front cross beam so bad that i was advised to junk the car or part it out. I was determined to save it so i did the following. I took 7' length of 21/2 by 1/4 inch weldable steel and forced into the frame rail slots then drilled holes to bolt it to the strut housings and also holes for the sway bar. I then used a grinder to get rid of the worst rusted areas, then i bought 4 cans of "great stuff" expanding foam and filled the hollow frame rails till it started oozing out. I let this mess dry for a day then i took a ginsu knife and trimmed the excess foam off. Then i painted it with flat b…

Ok, so here's a stumper: I had the alignment (toe-in only) checked and fixed (after a complete rebuild) last Wednesday. This weekend I took a trip of almost 600 miles. Car still pulled a little to the left, but it wasn't bad. When I got home last night, I noticed that the outside 3" of tread on the driver's front tire was starting to show cords! Big time wear! So I took the car back to the alignment shop to have them fix the problem. They checked it all again and said the toe-in was still correct. Now they realize that they cannot adjust the camber on these cars, but they showed me on the machine that the camber on the drivers is out. Too much positive camber. o…

Well, I was spending yesterday changing to the 4-piston Toyota Calipers for my 72 240z. However, the metal lines from the caliper to the hose were really rusted and I ended up rounding the heads on both sides and ended up haveing to cut one of the lines in half to get it off. I can't seem to be able to get these lines anywhere though! I tried napa, and they don't sell metric ones...I tried our Nissan dealership, and they see only one side available and its $30! Thats freakin $60 for the pair, I ain't gonna pay that! Then I tought maybe this wasn't the correct metal brake line, maybe they had the one for the master cylinder one, so does anyone here have the part number of …

A friend of mine wants me to change the clutch in his late 70's 280z. I have been told by some other friends that have done this once already that its a peice of cake. So I was wondering what you guys have to say? How long will it take me, and how difficult is it? What all needs to be done? He has ordered a clutch kit with everything for the clutch in it. I'd assume just pull the drive shaft, and unbolt the trans and pull it out right? Sounds easy enough, but I'v never replace the clutch while leaveing the engine in any of my cars, so I don't know what to do exacly, they were also all FWD's...Thanks Also, how do you remove the drive shaft exactly?
