I have a '72 and have replaced every bushing, bearing, cylinder, caliper, nut/bolt, strut cartridge, spring (Eibachs) etc. When I bought the car I had a friend who owns a body shop check it over and he said it had never been hit as far as he could tell. Though I guess a previous owner could have hit a serious pot hole. It is also a rust free car. The problem is that when having an alignment done after doing all this work, it turned out that the front right caster was off quite a bit (I ended up trimming one of the radius rod bushings to take care of this but have not had it checked since) and my rear toe is out (alignment shop said both wheels are pointing slightly le…

do you think 4-11's would be a bad choice for a stock 1972 240z? my lil toyota pickup has em...and i like the tourqe....but my truck is also a 4banger.... would the new gears be too low for the bigger 6?....what gear ratio would even it out so its just about the same?

I have a set of Ground Control coil overs for my 72 240Z... the question is: Do I have to cut off the old spring perch and weld on the supplied smaller spring perch? My only reservation with doing so is that, if I at any point want to go back to stock springs, I wont be able to... thanks. Dave.

Sprung a leak in the slave cylinder. Any ideas of how difficult to replace the seal? I've got the Hayes book, just thought I'd throw it out to the list for thoughts from those who have already done this. I need to get this ride back on the road. I just had the floor pans, rails and rocker panels replaced, time to rack up some miles on this puppy! Lost the clutch going for beer! I still got the beer, but had to tow the Zed home. That's not a pretty site to see your car on the hook! Thanks in advance!

Just looking for a little help here with my '75 280Z. I was coming home yesterday and on the last turn before my house, I pressed the brake. My petal starts going down slowly but down further than it has before and makes an audible hiss when pressed. I checked the fluid and both fluid conisters on the master cylinder were half full. I topped off and (I know silly but had no choice) drove to work this morning. It stops. Kinda. But takes me 4 times the distance to stop and makes a hiss whenever pressed. Master cylinder? Master Vac? Line? Help.

A fellow member of my club asked me strange question : What if I put 15x7 wheel in front and 15x8 wheel in the back of a 260z ? What kind of improvement/desagrements would such a setup make? I think that would like to put more rubber in front myself, certainly not less... but lots of racing cars from the 70' had those kind of setup, porsches, lancias... Any ideas... Fred

Sup Z folks...? This is a matter of opinion but I need all I can get..What's your feeling on KYB shocks..My current struts gave up the ghost a long time ago and since I have to replace them anyway I guess I don't know which is the best setup for me..I'll mostly be doing just really hard street driving and I definitely want a lowered spring but I have heard varying ideas about the reliablity and ride quality when using KYBs...So what's the skinny..? Given the choice, but not necessarily assuming that $$s are equal between the two, I'd like to get some opinions between the Nissan Comp LSD and a Quaife unit. Preferences, gripes, praise, complaints, etc Thanks, -e

Planning a purchase of a 280Z for a V-8 conversion, but I've heard that the R-180 won't hold up to the V-8, and the R-200 will? Is there an easy way to tell which cars would have the R-200 differential? Maybe I could graft on a diff from an AUDI QUATTRO?? ref: JTR v8 conversion book.
